OUR GOAL IS TO CONNECT PARENTS, SCHOOL LEADERS, POLICYMAKERS, AND ELECTED OFFICIALS TO MAKE COLLABORATIVE DECISIONS THAT ENSURE ALL STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO GREAT EDUCATION IN DC. HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE:* CONSISTENT AND SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES TO THE UPSFF (PER-PUPIL FUNDING), DESPITE SIGNIFICANT RECENT BUDGET CONSTRAINTS AS A RESULT OF CORONAVIRUS.* SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN FUNDING FOR EXPANDED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS, TRAUMA-INFORMED TRAINING, AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING PROGRAMS IN ALL DC SCHOOLS - EVEN IN DIFFICULT BUDGET YEARS.* AN ADDITIONAL $500K IN FUNDING FOR OUT OF SCHOOL TIME (OST) PROGRAMS ON TOP OF MAINTAINING LARGE INVESTMENTS THAT PARENTS ADVOCATED FOR IN PREVIOUS YEARS.* FOLLOWING A PARENT-LED SCHOOL OPERATOR SELECTION PROCESS THROUGH THE WARD 8 POST AND APPROVAL FROM THE PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL BOARD, LEARN DC BROKE GROUND IN EARLY 2021 AND PLANS TO OPEN IN FALL 2021 TO SERVE BOTH MILITARY AND WARD 8 FAMILIES.* PAVE CONVENED AND SUPPORTED DC SCHOOL LEADERS BY PROVIDING RESOURCES FOR REFLECTION, PEER LEARNING, AND BEST PRACTICE SHARING - ALL DESIGNED TO ELEVATE PARENT VOICE IN EDUCATION.
