Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
ELEVATE EARLY EDUCATION (E3) IS A NONPARTISAN AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION. OVER 10 YEARS AGO, WE SET OUT TO CHANGE THE WAY VIRGINIA THINKS ABOUT AND PRIORITIZES EARLY EDUCATION. E3 ADVOCATES FOR POLICY INITIATIVES AND STATE INVESTMENT IN EARLY LEARNING THROUGH THIRD GRADE. OUR WORK FOCUSES ON IMPROVING EQUITABLE ACCESS TO HIGH QUALITY EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS FOR ALL CHILDREN. E3 WORKS WITH STRATEGIC PARTNERS, STAKEHOLDERS, CIVIC AND BUSINESS LEADERS, PHILANTHROPISTS AND POLICYMAKERS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO QUALITY FOR THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES ACROSS VIRGINIA.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
AS PART OF OUR STRATEGY TO MOVE INVESTMENT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR CHILDREN, E3 CREATED THE NEW E3 SCHOOL, A STATE-OF-THE-ART, MIXED-INCOME MODEL LOCATED IN THE PARK PLACE NEIGHBORHOOD OF NORFOLK FOR CHILDREN AGES ONE TO FIVE. THE SCHOOL IS A BEACON OF HIGH QUALITY AND CATALYST FOR POLICY CHANGE IN THE HAMPTON ROADS REGION AND FOR THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA. WITH A SEVEN-YEAR TRACK RECORD, OUR MODEL PROVES THAT WHEN ALL CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS TO HIGH QUALITY, THEY ENTER KINDERGARTEN WITH THE ACADEMIC AND "SOFT SKILLS" THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL.E3 FUNDED AND WORKED ALONGSIDE UVA TO DEVELOP THE STREAMIN3 (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, READING, ENGINEERING, ARTS AND MATH) CURRICULUM MODEL IN OUR SCHOOL. THE ULTIMATE GOAL WAS TO ENSURE THAT THE CURRICULUM, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, COACHING AND ASSESSMENT MODEL COULD BE REPLICATED AND SCALED TO IMPACT MORE CHILDREN, FAMILIES, TEACHERS AND PROGRAMS.E3'S TEAM ADVOCATED FOR STATE AND PRIVATE FUNDS TO PILOT THE MODEL VOLUNTARILY IN 82 EARLY LEARNING CLASSROOMS (FAITH-BASED, HEAD START, PRIVATE PROGRAMS AND THE VIRGINIA PRESCHOOL INITIATIVE). RESULTS FROM THE PILOT IMPLEMENTATION EVALUATION PROVED THAT THE MODEL IS REPLICABLE AND SCALABLE. E3 ADVOCATED FOR ALL STATE-FUNDED PROGRAMS TO HAVE ACCESS TO STREAMIN3. THE STREAMIN3 MODEL IS NOW AVAILABLE TO ALL BIRTH TO FIVE PUBLICLY-FUNDED CLASSROOMS IN THE STATE. SERVICES:OUR AWARENESS, ADVOCACY AND POLICY INITIATIVES RESULTED IN: - OVER $35M+ IN PRIVATE INVESTME - OVER $142M+ IN PUBLIC INVESTMENT - HISTORIC STATE INVESTMENT AND POLICY CHANGE TO INCREASE ACCESS, IMPROVE QUALITY, SUPPORT TEACHERS AND PROGRAMS - DEDICATED FUNDING FOR OVER 20,000 AT-RISK CHILDREN TO HAVE ACCESS TO QUALITY PROGRAMS - THE EXPANSION OF THE NEW E3 SCHOOL & UVA STREAMIN3 MODEL TO BE AVAILABLE TO ALL STATE FUNDED EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS - THE EXPANSION OF THE VIRGINIA KINDERGARTEN READINESS PROGRAM (VKRP) TO ALL 132 SCHOOL DIVISIONS AND STATE- FUNDED PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS OUR INVESTMENT IS PAYING OFF AND MOVING THE METER IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR CHILDREN. IN 2020, 52% OF OUR CHILDREN WERE NOT READY FOR KINDERGARTEN IN LITERACY, MATH, SOCIAL SKILLS OR SELF-REGULATION. IN 2021, 42% WERE NOT READY. THE PANDEMIC HAS CAUSED EVEN MORE OF OUR CHILDREN TO FALL BEHIND. THE LEARNING, READING AND MATH GAPS HAVE WIDENED. MORE CHILDREN IN K-2 ARE AT HIGH RISK OF READING FAILURE. THAT IS WHY E3 PIVOTED TO RAISE AWARENESS, ADVOCATE AND CREATE INNOVATIVE INITIATIVES THAT FOCUS ON THE FIRST EIGHT YEARS OF A CHILD'S LIFE TO CLOSE THE OPPORTUNITY GAPS FOR ALL CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FROM EARLY LEARNING ON UP.
