Part 3 - Line 4a

COMMUNICATIONS - IN 2021, CONVERGENCE LAUNCHED MULTIPLE NEW DIALOGUES, BRINGING INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS TOGETHER ACROSS IDEOLOGICAL DIVIDES TO SOLVE CRITICAL PROBLEMS, INCLUDING THOSE FOCUSING ON ECONOMIC RECOVERY FROM THE PANDEMIC, REIMAGINING CARE FOR OLDER ADULTS, MODERNIZING THE CIVIL SERVICE, AND REDUCING DIGITAL DISINFORMATION. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PRODUCED RECOMMENDATIONS FROM ITS DIALOGUE ON GUNS & SUICIDE PREVENTION, EXPANDED WORK SUPPORTING CONGRESS, SUPPORTED THE MATURATION OF THE BRIDGE-BUILDING FIELD, AND EXPERIMENTED WITH NEW WAYS TO LEVERAGE ITS PROVEN METHODOLOGY. BY COMMUNICATING ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF THIS WORK, CONVERGENCE PROVIDES UNIQUE, POWERFUL EVIDENCE THAT BRIDGE-BUILDING WORKS.

CALIFORNIA - IN 2021, CONVERGENCE'S CALIFORNIA HEALTH REFORM INITIATIVE - INCLUDING HIGH-PROFILE STAKEHOLDERS FROM ACROSS SECTORS - ADVANCED AND DISSEMINATED CONSENSUS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE STATE TO CREATE A GOVERNMENT ENTITY TO CONTROL HEALTH COSTS. CONVERGENCE'S CALIFORNIA TEAM ALSO LAUNCHED A RESEARCH ASSESSMENT FOR A CONVERGENCE DIALOGUE ON DIGITAL DISINFORMATION, EXAMINING THE DISINFORMATION, MISINFORMATION, AND OTHER FORMS OF MEDIA MANIPULATION THAT SHAPE HARMFUL NARRATIVES, MISLEAD AND POLARIZE THE PUBLIC, SOW DISRUPTION, AND EXACERBATE DISTRUST IN INSTITUTIONS. THE DIALOGUE, SLATED TO LAUNCH IN 2022, WILL EXPLORE PEOPLE-CENTERED SOLUTIONS THAT REDUCE DISINFORMATION AND ITS IMPACT, PROMOTE AN INFORMED SOCIETY, AND STRENGTHEN CIVIC AND DEMOCRATIC DISCOURSE.

GUNS AND SUICIDE PREVENTION - AMID A RASH OF MASS SHOOTINGS ACROSS THE NATION, GUN POLICY REMAINS A VERY PARTISAN AND COMMUNITY POLARIZING ISSUE. DIVISIVENESS AROUND GUN POLICY HAS GROWN WIDER OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, AND THE RATE OF GUN-RELATED DEATHS BY SUICIDE HAS INCREASED, NOW ACCOUNTING FOR HALF OF THE NATION'S SUICIDES. IN 2021, THE CONVERGENCE DIALOGUE ON GUNS & SUICIDE PREVENTION - A DIVERSE GROUP OF LEADERS WITH WIDELY DIVERGENT VIEWS ON GUN RIGHTS, INCLUDING RESEARCHERS, MEDICAL DOCTORS/MENTAL HEALTH EXPERTS, GUN RIGHTS ADVOCATES, GUN INDUSTRY LEADERS, GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION ADVOCATES, FAITH LEADERS, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS - ISSUED CONSENSUS-BASED RECOMMENDATIONS AROUND STRATEGIES TO PREVENT FIREARM SUICIDE AND DRIVE ACTIONABLE CHANGE.
