THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE CORPORATION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH STATUS OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN DOUGLAS COUNTY, OREGON.

DPHN HAS PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES FOR IMMUNIZATION, EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS, INFECTIOUS DISEASE, DRUG OVERDOSE PREVENTION AND PUBLIC HEALTH MODERNIZATION. BETWEEN JULY 2021 - JUNE 2022, DPHN COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: MODERNIZATION - CONTINUE WORK ON HEALTH EQUITY AND CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS. EMPLOYED A HEALTH EQUITY COORDINATOR AND FORMED A LOCAL HEALTH EQUITY ADVISORY COALITION, THE HEALTH EQUITY ADVOCATES LEAGUE, OR HEAL. MODERNIZATION FUNDING CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE COVID RESPONSE, WORKING WITH LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND STATE PARTNERS IN SUPPORT OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASE WORK. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE - CONTINUE TO WORK WITH REGIONAL AND LOCAL HEALTHCARE COALITIONS TO PREPARE FOR AND RESPOND TO LARGE-SCALE HEALTH EMERGENCIES. INCIDENT AND RESPONSE ACTIVITIES INCLUDED WORKING WITH WILDLAND FIREFIGHTERS TO ESTABLISH COVID-19 TESTING, QUARANTINE/ISOLATION, AND VACCINATION PLANS DURING MULTIPLE WILDFIRE RESPONSES. COLLABORATED WITH PARTNERS TO IDENTIFY AND MONITOR COMMUNITY RECOVERY NEEDS. COMMUNICABLE DISEASE - CONTINUE TO RESPOND TO COMMUNITY AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS' NEEDS DURING THE PANDEMIC. AS COVID RESPONSE BEGINS TO DEMOBILIZE, COMMUNICABLE DISEASE EFFORTS ARE TURNED BACK TOWARD OTHER COMMUNICABLE DISEASE WORK, INCLUDING RESURGENCE OF SYPHILIS. THE COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PROGRAM ADDED TWO ADDITIONAL DISEASE INTERVENTION SPECIALISTS. PRESCRIPTION DRUG OVERDOSE PREVENTION - CONTINUE TO EDUCATE ON THE DANGERS OF FENTANYL AND DISTRIBUTE NALOXONE. CREATED A WEBSITE, "AWARE, PREPARED, AND ALIVE", FOR FENTANYL TREATMENT AND EDUCATION RESOURCES. CURRENTLY WORKING TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND HEALTHCARE PARTNERS ABOUT XYLAZINE. TOBACCO PREVENTION & EDUCATION - DPHN RESUMED INDOOR CLEAN AIR ACT COMPLIANCE WORK DURING THIS TIME.
