HARVEST MOON REGATTA AMATEUR SAILING RACE WHICH GENERATED SIGNIFICANT LOCAL AND NATIONAL ATTENTION TO THE RECREATIONAL USE OF GALVESTON AND CORPUS CHRISTI BAYS AS WELL AS THE GULF OF MEXICO BETWEEN GALVESTON AND PORT ARANSAS, TEXAS. PARTICIPATING WERE 106 BOATS, 599 SAILORS, AND AN ESTIMATED 150 VOLUNTEERS.
TEN AMATEUR SAILING RACES HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR DRAWING ATTENTION TO THE RECREATIONAL BENEFIT OF GALVESTON AND TRINITY BAYS. THE RACES DREW A TOTAL OF 227 BOATS AND AN ESTIMATED 870 SAILORS. VOLUNTEERS AVERAGED 24 PER RACE.
