SAMARITAN HOUSE EMBRACES THE MISSION OF PROVIDING TEMPORARY SHELTER, FOOD, AND HOUSEHOLD ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE IN NEED IN THE LAS VEGAS COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING AREA, IN COOPERATION WITH OTHER AGENCIES, INCLUDING PUBLIC, PRIVATE NON-PROFIT AND FAITH-BASED AGENCIES WITH SIMILAR OBJECTIVES.

IN 2022, WE BEGAN THE ACTION TO REBUILD THE SAMARITAN HOUSE WITH THE FOLLOWING RESULTS: 1. SUCCESSFULLY REESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS WITH FUNDERS- THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS PROVIDED A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT SHOWN IN YOUR RECORDS. 2. CREATED THE DAY CENTER OR RESOURCE CENTER, PROVIDING BREAKFAST, SHOWERS, HOUSING RESOURCES, AND ACCESS TO LAUNDRY. 3. WE RECRUITED DR. REBECCA MOORE, PHD IN SOCIAL WORK, ONTO OUR BOARD. 4. WE STARTED THE REVISION OF THE MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS. 5. WE HIRED A CREDENTIALED FINANCE DIRECTOR (LOUISE CDEBACA) WHO PUBLISHED AND GAINED BOARD APPROVAL OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL BUDGET. 6. WE CAUGHT UP ON MAINTENANCE IN ALL AREAS OF THE ORGANIZATION. 7. WE REVIEWED AND REVISED THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM. 8. WE STREAMLINED OUR STAFF AND INCREASED PARTICIPATION IN THE WORKFORCE COMMISSION ON THE JOB TRAINING PROGRAM. 9. WE SUCCESSFULLY BROUGHT MFA INTO NEGOTIATIONS REALIZED IN 2023. 10. CLARIFIED POSITION DESCRIPTION AND JOB TITLES. WE PROMOTED DENISE CHAVEZ TO ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FOOD DISTRIBUTION, VOLUNTEERS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF.
