THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK, INC IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN WHOSE MISSION IS TO ADVANCE WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FOR MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY IMPACT THROUGH VOLUNTEER ACTION, COLLABORATION, AND TRAINING.

AS A RESULT OF A PRIOR FOCUS AREA TO IMPOVE THE LIVES OF CHILDREN IN LUBBOCK AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES, THE JUNIOR LEAGUE HAS CREATED AND IMPLEMENTED SEVERAL PROGRAMS. THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK DEVELOPED THE SOUTH PLAINS FOOD2KIDS PROGRAM, A PROJECT IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PROVIDE FOOD ON FRIDAYS TO CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS BEING AT RISK FOR SUFFERING FROM HUNGER DURING THE WEEKEND. THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK ALSO ADOPTED KIDS IN THE KITCHEN, A PROGRAM INITIATED BY JUNIOR LEAGUE ASSOCIATIONS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TO GET IN THE KITCHEN, PROMOTE HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES AND PROVIDE RESOURCES AND HANDS ON INSTRUCTION TO FACILITATE THESE GOALS. ADDITIONALLY, THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK CREATED A PROGRAM TITLED SPARK TO EDUCATE UNDER-PRIVILEGED AND UNDERSERVED TEENAGE GIRLS IN LUBBOCK. THE SPARK PROGRAM IGNITES THE POTENTIAL IN MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS TO DEVELOP INTO SELF-CONFIDENT STUDENTS AND LEADERS MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT IN THEIR COMMUNITY. THIS EIGHT MONTH PROGRAM TEACHES TEAMWORK, SELF-CONFIDENCE, THE VALUE OF EDUCATION AND IMPACT OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM. DURING THE 2022-2023 JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK FISCAL YEAR, THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK WILL BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH TEN TO FIFTEEN YOUNG WOMEN FROM DUNBAR, OL SLATON, AND CAVAZOS MIDDLE SCHOOLS IN THE LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT.
THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK'S MEMBERSHIP VOTED ELDER CARE AS THE LEAGUE'S NEW PROJECT AREA FOR THE YEARS 2023-2028. THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK'S RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ADOPTED THE MISSION "TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LUBBOCK SENIOR CITIZENS THROUGH RESPITE CARE, HEALTH SERVICES, AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF BASIC DAY TO DAY LIVING CONDITIONS AND RESEARCHED HOW TO IMPLEMENT SUCH MISSION. RESEARCH REVEALED ELDERS IN THE LUBBOCK COMMUNITY STRUGGLE WITH ISOLATION AND THE LACK OF ACTIVITIES. RESEARCH ALSO REVEALED MANY BUSINESSES IN THE LUBBOCK COMMUNITY SERVE THE ELDERLY POPULATION, BUT ARE LIMITED BY MANPOWER AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES. THE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CONTACTED APPROXIMATELY 45 BUSINESSES AND INVITED SUCH BUSINESSES TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LUBBOCK. THE SELECTED BUSINESS(ES) WILL RECEIEVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE TO HELP CREATE, DEVELOP, AND GROW A PROJECT SERVING THE ELDERLY POPULATION OF LUBBOCK COUNTY.
