THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF TYLER, INC. IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTEERISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN AND IMPROVING COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. ITS PURPOSE IS EXCLUSIVELY EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE.

AWARDED GRANTS AND VOLUNTEER HOURS TO 15 (INCLUDING 3 JUNIOR LEAGUE PROJECTS) ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY SUPPORTING ARTS & EDUCATION, HEALTH SERVICES, AND YOUTH AND FAMILY ISSUES. BY PARTNERING WITH OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, RESOURCES CAN BE POOLED TO MAKE EACH DOLLAR HAVE THE BIGGEST IMPACT POSSIBLE ON THE COMMUNITY. SOME OF THE 2022-2023 HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE PARTNERING WITH THE EAST TEXAS FOOD BANK TO PROVIDE A WEEKEND BACKPACK PROGRAM FEEDING HUNDREDS OF AREA CHILDREN FACING FOOD INSECURITY, PARTNERING WITH ST. PAUL'S CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION'S KHAKI'S FOR KIDS PROGRAM, WHICH DISTRIBUTES SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND SHOES TO LOCAL CHILDREN, AND WORKING WITH THE LITERACY COUNCIL OF TYLER TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ADULTS TO COMPLETE THEIR CORE PROGRAMS SUCH AS ESL AND GED PROGRAMS. OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS INCLUDE CHAMPIONS FOR CHILDREN, LITERACY COUNCIL, ALZHEIMER'S ALLIANCE, BRECKENRIDGE VILLAGE, EAST TEXAS FOOD BANK, MEALS ON WHEELS, ANGEL LAYETTES, CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER, ST. PAUL CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION, AND FOSTERING COLLECTIVE. IN LEAGUE PROJECTS INCLUDED JLT CARE CLOSET, JLT SUMMER READING CAMP, AND JLT GIRL POWER.
PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES FOR MEETINGS, CONFERENCES AND TRAINING OF MEMBERS AS THEY RELATE TO PROGRAMS SUPPORTED BY THE ORGANIZATION.
HELD ANNUAL GIRL POWER EVENT, AN EVENT FOR SIXTH GRADE GIRLS FOCUSED ON THE GIRL POWER PILLARS OF SELF-VALUE, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, EDUCATION, AND FUTURE PLANNING. JUNIOR LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO INVEST IN YOUNG GIRLS AT A UNIQUE TIME IN THEIR LIVES. THE EVENT HAD APPROXIMATELY 300 ATTENDEES COMING FROM SMITH COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOLS.
