THE MISSION OF THE CACHE VALLEY CENTER FOR THE ARTS IS TO BRING CULTURAL ENRICHMENT TO THE PEOPLE OF THE EXTENDED CACHE VALLEY COMMUNITY BY PRESENTING, EXHIBITING, TEACHING AND FOSTERING QUALITY FINE ARTS EXPERIENCES AND FACILITATING OTHER APPROPRIATE USES OF THE ELLE ECCLES THEATRE, THATCHER-YOUNG MANSION, AND BULLEN CENTER, THAT WILL ENCOURAGE WIDESPREAD COMMUNITY ACCESS, TOURISM, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

IN FY21 70 PERFORMANCES WERE HELD IN THE ELLEN ECCLES THEATRE AT THE CACHE VALLEY CENTER FOR THE ARTS WITH 11,387 AUDIENCE MEMBERS. THE EFFECTS OF THE GLOBAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC ARE EVIDENCED IN THE 15% DROP IN EVENTS AND THE 77% DROP IN THE NUMBER OF AUDIENCE MEMBERS SINCE FY20. EVENTS INCLUDED A SERIES OF 19 SHORT PERFORMANCES BY 16 LOCAL ARTIST GROUPS (RANDOM ACTS COMMUNITY CONCERTS), THIS IS HER PLACE, RIRIE-WOODBURY DANCE, MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, MUSIC CITY HIT-MAKERS, AND SONS OF THE PIONEERS. IT WAS A YEAR MARKED BY POSTPONEMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS. TWO SOLD OUT PERFORMANCES OF BAR J WRANGLERS HAD TO BE CANCELED THE WEEK OF THE SHOW. SONS OF THE PIONEERS WAS RESCHEDULED FOUR TIMES. IT WAS THE FIRST SUMMER WITHOUT THE UTAH FESTIVAL OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATRE IN RESIDENCE AND THE FIRST THANKSGIVING WITHOUT CACHE VALLEY CIVIC BALLET'S NUTCRACKER. PERFORMANCES DID GO FORWARD FROM MUSIC THEATRE WEST, ODYSSEY DANCE THEATRE, STARRSTEPPERS, DANCE ILLUSION, JOHNSON FAMILY FILES, JENNY OAKS BAKER, RYAN SHUPE, CACHE VALLEY CIVIC BALLET, CACHE THEATRE COMPANY, AND DANCE SOURCE.
IN FY21 8 PERFORMANCES WERE HELD IN THE CAROUSEL BALLROOM BY RESIDENT COMPANIES INCLUDING UNICORN THEATRE, LOGAN YOUTH SHAKESPEARE AND NEW HORIZONS ORCHESTRA. BALLROOM PERFORMANCES WERE DOWN 80%. 1,580 PEOPLE ENROLLED IN ARTS CLASSES, WHICH IS AN INCREASE OF 31% OVER FY20, BUT STILL DOWN FROM THE FY19 ENROLLMENTS OF 2,299. OUR ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMMING RECOVERED FASTER THAN PUBLIC PERFORMANCES AND FACED FEW CANCELLATIONS. THESE CLASSES INCLUDED CREATIVE DRAMA, CERAMICS, DANCE, MUSIC, PAINTING, DRAWING, GUITAR, PIANO, MAGIC, AND PHOTOGRAPHY. SOME CLASSES ARE ORGANIZED BY CACHEARTS, SOME ARE FISCALLY SPONSORED, AND OTHERS RENT SUBSIDIZED SPACE IN THE BUILDING.
