THE NORMAN ARTS COUNCIL SHALL ENRICH THE NORMAN COMMUNITY BY STIMULATING ARTISTIC, CULTURAL, AND ECOMIC GROWTH THROUGH THE SUPPORT AND PROMOTION OF THE ARTS. WE ARE A FUNDING AGENCY, WHICH GRANTS MONEY TO NORMAN ARTS ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORTS INDIVIDUAL ARTIST.

ANNUALLY, THE NAC GRANTS 57%-60% OF THE FUNDS ALLOCATED TO THE ARTS IN OUR GRANTING PROGRAMS. IN FY 17/18, WE PROVIDED GENERAL OPERATING SUPPORT TO THE ACCADEMIA FILARMONICA, DOWNTOWN NORMAN FALL FESTIVAL, NORMAN BALLET COMPANY, NORMAN CULTURAL CONNECTION, NORMAN PHIHARMINIC, MEDIEVAL FAIR, NATIVE CROSSROADS FILM FESTIVAL, CIMMARON OPERA, CHILDRENS ARTS NETWORK, FIREHOUSE ART CENTER, JAZZ IN JUNE, NORMAN MUSIC ALLIANCE, SOONER THEATER, THE DEPOT, PIONEER LIABRAY SYSTEM AND MANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. WE ALSO OFFER SMALL GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS FOR SUDDEN OPPORTUNITY PROGRAMS AND ARTS MANAGEMENT SUPPORT. WE REQUIRE EACH RECIPIENT TO COMPLETE A FINAL REPORT THAT WE USE TO CALCULATE THE TOTAL OUTREACH AND IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION TO FINAL REPORTS, WE PARTICIPATED IN THE AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS AND ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR. WE ESTIMATE THAT ARTS AUDIENCE WAS OVER 1,000,000 AND THE ARTS GENERATED APPROXIMATELE $56,000 OF REVENUES IN NORMAN
MAINSITE GALLERY EXHIBITS AND ARTS PROGRAMMING - THROUGH OUR EXHIBIT AND ARTS PROGRAM IN OUR GALLERY, MAINSITE, WE WORKED WITH OVER 200 LOCAL AND NATIONAL ARTIST AND A FEW INTERNATIONAL ARTIST.
THE 2ND FRIDAY ART WALK CONTINUES TO BE OF THE MOST POPLULAR EVENTS IN NORMAN. EACH MONTH WE AVERAGE 1,500 VISITORS TO THE BUSINESSES, GALLERIES, ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, AND RESTAURANTS IN DOWNTOWN NORMAN. ART WALK HAS EXPANDED TO FOSTER PROPRIETOR RELATIONSHIPS WITH ARTISTS, THAT GIVE THEM A VENUE TO PERFORM OR DISPLAY THIER WORK OUTSIDE OF NORMAL OPERATING HOURS, A FOOD TRUCK AREA TO PROMOTE LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES, AND IS NOW RECOGNIZED AS A SPECIAL EVENT WITH THE CITY OF NORMAN. THIS PROGRAM PAIRS VISUAL ARTIST, PERFORMERS, AND MUSICIANS WITH THE BUSINESSES IN NORMAN TO BRING A NIGHT OF FREE ARTS EXPERIENCE TO THE COMMUNITY EACH MONTH.
