HOMEAID, WHICH RECEIVES NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING, TAKES PRIDE IN HAVING CONSTRUCTED DIGNIFIED HOUSING FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN SACRAMENTO SINCE 1996. EACH YEAR, HOMEAID'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVES THE PROJECTS BROUGHT TO US BY NONPROFIT PROVIDERS OF HOMELESS SHELTERS. SINCE 1996, HOMEAID LEVERAGED IN-KIND DONATIONS OF OVER $7.4 MILLION FROM MORE THAN 100 HOMEBUILDERS AND THEIR TRADE PARTNERS, ENABILING US TO INCREASE SHELTER CAPACITY FOR THE HOMELESS BY OVER 1,200 BEDS FOR HOMELESS ADULTS AND CHILDREN.
EACH YEAR HOMEAID SPONSORS A NUMBER OF PAINT AND "CARE" PROJECTS FOR HOMELESS SHELTERS, UTILIZING VOLUNTEERS FROM BUILDER INDUSTRY AND COMMUNITY TO UPGRADE THE INTERIORS AND EXTERIORS OF TRANSITIONAL HOUSING FOR THE HOMELESS. HOMEAID DONATES THE MATERIALS, PAINT, AND LABOR TO COMPLETE THESE PROJECTS.
HOMEAID PROVIDES ON-GOING OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATION REGARDING OUR SERVICES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO BUSINESSES, BUILDERS, AND POTENTIAL DONORS. THE PURPOSE OF OUR COMMUNICATION VIA OUR WEBSITE, MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, E-NEWS, FACEBOOK, AND PRESENTATIONS IS TO UNDERSCORE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HOME BUILDING INDUSTRY'S ROLE IN ADDRESSING THE HOUSING OF HOMELESS IN OUR COMMUNITY. HOMEAID SEEKS TO KEEP IN THE FOREFRONT THE FACT THAT HOMELESS SHELTERS DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDING, RESOURCES, OR EXPERTISE NECESSARY TO SUPPORT REMODELING AND BUILDING PROJECTS NEEDED TO PROVIDE HOUSING AND SHELTER FOR HOMELESS VETERANS, FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND INDIVIDUALS.
