DEVELOPING AND ADMINISTERING A VOLUNTEER SERVICE PROGRAM CONSISTING PRINCIPALLY OF YOUTH VOLUNTEERS, WHICH BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING THIS NEEDED PUBLIC SERVICE. THE PROGRAM ALSO DEVELOPS EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE YOUTH.

THE YOUTHBUILD PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES CONSTRUCTION RELATED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE TO PARTICIPANTS ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM. DURING THE YEAR, 47 PARTICIPANTS WERE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.


THE AMERICORPS PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM SERVES AS A WORK-SITE SPONSOR TO GMSC'S VOLUNTEERS, ENGAGING THEM IN ACTIVITIES THAT PROVIDE CONSTRUCTIVE/MEANINGFUL WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS, AND PROMOTE GOOD WORK HABITS. DURING THE YEAR, 58 PARTICIPANTS WERE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.


MIAMI-DADE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SAFETY NET PROGRAM: THIS FUND SUPPORTS DISADVANTAGED YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVE EITHER DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL OR HAVE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL BUT ARE IN NEED OF HELP FINDING A JOB, TRAINING TO PREPARE FOR THE WORKPLACE, OR EXPLORING CAREER PATHS.
