AMPERSAND SEXUAL VIOLENCE RESOURCE CENTER OF THE BLUEGRASS AMPERSAND STRIVES TO ERADICATE SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ABUSE BY PROMOTING INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT THROUGH EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND THERAPEUTIC HEALING. AMPERSAND ALSO ENDEAVORS TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO ALL RAPE VICTIMS AND RAPE AWARENESS/PREVENTION EDUCATION TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. AMPERSAND PROVIDES A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS IN A SEVENTEEN COUNTY AREA OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN KENTUCKY. AMPERSAND?S PROGRAMS FALL INTO THREE CATEGORIES: EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH & PREVENTION, CRISIS INTERVENTION, AND PSYCHOTHERAPY. THE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH AND PREVENTION PROGRAM PROVIDES COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS RELATED TO SEXUAL VIOLENCE INCLUDING RAPE AWARENESS FACTS AND FIGURES, SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN-SERVICE TRAININGS AND CONSULTATIONS ARE PROVIDED TO AREA PROFESSIONALS SUCH AS TEACHERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL. THE CRISIS INTERVENTION PROGRAM PROVIDES A TOLL-FREE 24-HOUR CRISIS LINE, COUNSELING AND ADVOCAY TO VICTIMS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND THEIR FAMILY/FRIENDS. THE PSYCHOTHERAPY PROGRAM PROVIDES INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP THERAPY TO VICTIMS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE.
