THE STATE SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITION FOR OHIO, OHIO ALLIANCE TO END SEXUAL VIOLENCE (OAESV) ADVOCATES FOR COMPREHENSIVE RESPONSES AND RAPE CRISIS SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS AND EMPOWERS COMMUNITIES TO PREVENT SEXUAL VIOLENCE. OUR OBJECTIVES INCLUDE: END ISOLATION OF SURVIVORS AND AGENCIES WORKING ON THEIR BEHALF, TO IMPROVE SERVICES AND RESPONSES TO SURVIVORS AND ALL THOSE IMPACTED BY SEXUAL VIOLENCE, INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT SEXUAL VIOLENCE, AND TO INFORM AND SHAPE PUBLIC POLICY. SEXUAL VIOLENCE IS A FORM OF OPPRESSION THAT IS CONNECTED TO, SUPPORTS, AND IS SUPPORTED BY OTHER FORMS OF OPPRESSION. OAESV BELIEVES THAT THE EFFORT TO CONFRONT ANY FORM OF OPPRESSION REQUIRES A COMMITMENT TO CONFRONTING ALL FORMS OF OPPRESSION.

VOCA - TRAINING OF ADVOCATES AND COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO SERVE DIVERSE SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS, PROVIDE VICTIM ADVOCACY FOR SURVIVORS, FACILITATE THE OHIO SURVIVORS ADVISORY GROUP, AND OFFER RESOURCE LINE FOR INFORMATION/REFERRAL STATEWIDE. PROVIDE PANEL ATTORNEYS FOR SURVIVORS FOR LEGAL REPRESENTATION AT A REDUCED RATE.
IN ORDER TO SUPPORT SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND MEMBER AGENCIES WITH A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO ELIMINATING BARRIERS AND RECOGNIZING ALL THE ISSUES THAT AFFECT SERVICES, OAESV IS ABLE TO PROVIDE OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES AS FUNDED BY THE GEORGE GUND FOUNDATION, OHIO OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES, OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION, OFFICE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR VICTIMS, OFFICE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN STATE AND TERRITORIAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, OFFICE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN RURAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE AND STALKING OR SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAM.
RPE: RPE RECIPIENTS WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH DIVERSE STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING STATE SEXUAL VIOLENCE COALITIONS, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, RAPE CRISIS CENTERS, COMMUNITY ORGAINIZATIONS AND OTHER STATE AGENCY PARTNERS TO GUIDE IMPLEMENTATION OF THEIR STATE SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION EFFORTS. AS A STATEWIDE COALITION WHO UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION, WE RECEIVE FUNDING TO BE ABLE TO DO: ANNUAL CONFERENCE, 4-5 REGIONAL MEETINGS, 2 STATEWIDE TRAIN THE TRAINERS, YOUTH PREVENTION EDUCATION, SUPPORT OF THE BETHEONE OHIO CAMPAIGN, AND UPDATE CURRICULUM. RAPE PREVENTION EDUCATION FUNDING ALLOWS THE COALITION TO TRAIN AND CREATE BYSTANDER INTERVENTION PRACTICES, K-12 CURRICULUM CREATION AND SCHOOL POLICY WORK, TRAIN ON OUTER LAYER AND INDIVIDUAL PREVENTION, AND COORDINATE A STATEWIDE PREVENTIONIST/EDUCATORS NETWORK.
STATE RAPE CRISIS FUND-AS A FEDERALLY-RECOGNIZED STATEWIDE SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITION, OAESV IS GRANTED ANNUALLY 10% OF THE BALANCE OF FUNDS IN THE STATE RAPE CRISIS FUND. THESE FUNDS ARE TO BE USED TO PROVIDE TRAINING OR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT WORK TO MEET THE NEEDS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS/SURVIVORS AS WELL AS FOR NORMAL BUSINESS EXPENSES UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOT ALLOWED. THIS IS OUR LARGEST PROGRAMMATIC SOURCE OF FUNDING.THE STATE RAPE CRISIS GRANT PROVIDED CRITICAL SUPPORT TO OAESV TO INCREASE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE FUNDING OF CRITICAL INDIRECT AGENCY COSTS THAT MANY FEDERAL GRANTS DO NOT EVEN COVER, BUT ARE CRITICAL TO MAINTAIN OFFICE OPERATIONS AND A WELL-RUN ORGANIZATION THAT ALLOWS PROGRAM STAFF TO FOCUS ON PROVIDING THOSE SERVICES. IN ADDITION TO STAFFING FUNDS PROVIDED THROUGH THIS FUNDING AND DISCUSSED EARLIER IN THIS REPORT, THIS FUNDING ALSO WAS UTILIZED FOR THE FOLLOWING COSTS: CONTRACT FINANCE PERSON; EQUIPMENT (COMPUTERS); RENT, UTILITIES, PHONE, INTERNET, ONLINE SURVEY PROGRAM TO ASSESS TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE NEEDS, CONFERENCE REGISTRATION AND EVALUATION; CONFERENCE LINE/WEBINAR PROGRAM TO PROVIDE NO-COST TRAINING AND COORDINATE STATEWIDE PLANNING; LIABILITY INSURANCE; AUDIT AND IT OPERATIONS. WITHOUT THE RAPE CRISIS STATE FUND OAESV WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXPAND TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE OFFERINGS AND SEE SUCH A SIGNIFICANT EXPANSION OF WELL-TRAINED, QUALIFIED RAPE CRISIS CENTER STAFF ACROSS THE STATE AS WE HAVE SEEN IN OHIO OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS.THIS IS MORE THAN A GRANT; IT IS A LINE ITEM (BILL) SIGNED BI-ANNUALLY BY THE GOVERNOR OF OHIO.
