ADVOCACY PROVIDES FREE, DIRECT SUPPORT AND INFORMATION TO SEXUAL ASSAULT/ABUSE SURVIVORS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS THROUGH INTERACTIONS IN THE LEGAL, MEDICAL, AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS THAT THE INDIVIDUAL SURVIVOR IS INVOLVED WITH. IN FY23, RSAC PROVIDED 936 HOURS OF ADVOCACY TO 176 SURVIVORS AND/OR THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS.
COUNSELING IS PROVIDED FOR FREE, IN A CLIENT-CENTERED, TRAUMA INFORMED WAY TO SURVIVORS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS. COUNSELING CAN BE DONE INDIVIDUALLY, FAMILY, GROUP, OR ON THE CRISIS LINE. IN FY23, RSAC PROVIDED 6,358 HOURS OF COUNSELING TO 773 CLIENTS.
EDUCATION IS PROVIDED FOR FREE TO AGES 3-ADULT IN ALL SETTINGS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS. PREVENTION EDUCATION FOCUSES ON CONSENT, SEXUAL HARASSMENT, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, AND BYSTANDER INTERVENTIONS. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IS ALSO PROVIDED ON THESE TOPICS AS WELL AS AGENCY SERVICES, COMMON SIGNS OF SEXUAL ABUSE, AND HOW TO RESPOND TO DISCLOSURES. THROUGH INFORMATION AND REFERRALS AND INSTITUTIONAL ADVOCACY, RSAC ALSO EDUCATES BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS ON THESE TOPICS. AWARENESS EVENTS EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON SURVIVOR ISSUES THROUGH EVENTS AND RESOURCE TABLES. IN TOTAL, RSAC PROVIDED 1,679 HOURS OF EDUCATION TO OUR COMMUNITY AND REACHED OVER 250,000 TOTAL IN FY23.
