RESILIENCE IS AN INDEPENDENT , NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE HEALING AND EMPOWERMENT OF SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS THROUGH NON-JUDGMENTAL CRISIS INTERVENTION COUNSELING, INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP TRAUMA THERAPY, AND MEDICAL AND LEGAL ADVOCACY IN THE GREATER CHICAGO METROPOLITAN AREA. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES PUBLIC EDUCATION AND INSTITUTIONAL ADVOCACY IN ORDER TO IMPROVE TREATMENT OF SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS AND TO EFFECT POSITIVE CHANGE IN POLICIES AND PUBLIC ATTITUDES TOWARD SEXUAL ASSAULT.

ADVOCACY: THE ORGANIZATIONS HIGHLY TRAINED VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF OFFER MEDICAL ADVOCACY IN 15 CHICAGO EMERGENCY ROOMS, 24 HOURS A DAY INCLUDING CERMAK HOSPITAL AT THE COOK COUNTY JAIL. THROUGH LEGAL ADVOCACY, SURVIVORS LEARN THEIR RIGHTS UNDER THE LAW, AND RECEIVE HELP AND SUPPORT WITH ANY POLICE REPORTS, COURT PROCEEDINGS, OR OTHER PROTECTIONS.
TRAUMA THERAPY: TRAUMA THERAPY OFFERS SURVIVORS THE CHANCE TO PROCESS AND HEAL THEIR SEXUAL TRAUMA. THE ORGANIZATIONS TRAUMA THERAPY PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE INDIVIDUAL THERAPY SESSIONS, IN ADDITION TO GROUP THERAPY, TO HELP FACILITATE THE HEALING JOURNEY. OUR COUNSELORS AND THERAPISTS UTILIZE METHODS INCLUDING ART, DANCE MOVEMENT, TALK, AND MORE.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES HIGH-QUALITY, AGE-APPROPRIATE, EVIDENCE-BASED, AND TRAUMA-INFORMED EDUCATION THROUGH OUR EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM. WE FACILITATE IN A VARIETY OF SETTINGS TO BOTH ADULTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE. TYPES OF PROGRAMMING AVAILABLE INCLUDE PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS, YOUTH PROGRAMS, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. EVERY PREVENTION EDUCATION WORKSHOP TEACHES PARTICIPANTS HOW TO IDENTIFY ELEMENTS OF RAPE CULTURE, RECOGNIZE AND REDUCE RISK FACTORS FOR SEXUALVIOLENCE AND BECOME AGENTS OF CHANGE IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES.
