SOCM RESOURCE PROJECT WORKS TO ENHANCE LEADERSHIP SKILLS OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS. PROGRAMS AND TRAINING INCLUDE PUBLIC SPEAKING FACILITATION RESEARCH POWER ANALYSIS WRITING GOOD EDITORIALS ANTI-RACISM WORKSHOPS STRATEGIC ANALYSIS HOW TO FRAME AND WIN ISSUES HOW TO AGREE TO DISAGREE CONFLICT MANAGEMENT HOW TO TALK WITH DECISION-MAKERS HOW TO DO VOTER REGISTRATION AND OTHER DEVELOPMENT TRAINING AS NEEDED AND IDENTIFIED. THIS PROGRAM SERVES COMMUNITY MEMBERS ACROSS THE STATE OF TENNESSEE. THE PROGRAM IS THE BASIS FOR GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND HAPPENS INDIRECTLY ON A DAILY BASIS DOING PROGRAM WORK AND DIRECTLY AS SCHEDULED. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES WERE STILL CHALLENGED IN 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 BUT WE MAINTAINED ACTIVE WORK ONLINE AND SAFELY CONTINUED OUR WORK IN SOCIALLY DISTANCED MEETINGS WHEN APPROPRIATE.
PUBLIC EDUCATION RESEARCH GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION. THE PROGRAM SERVES COMMUNITY MEMBERS ACROSS THE STATE OF TENNESSEE WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. THESE ACTIVITIES ARE A PRIMARY PART OF OUR GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZING EFFORTS AND OCCUR ON A DAILY BASIS THROUGH EMAIL AND PHONE CONVERSATIONS TRADITIONAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA AND DIRECT ACTION. NEW CHALLENGING WORK THAT AROSE IN 2020 FROM COMPLICATIONS OF COVID-19 AROUND HOUSING JUSTICE CONCERNING EVICTIONS STILL CONTINUED IN 2021.
BEGAN PERFORMING FISCAL MANAGEMENT FOR THE NASHVILLE LIVING WAGE LOCATED IN NASHVILLE TN WITH AN ECONOMIC FOCUS DURING THE LATER PART OF 2021.
