CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF PARK FACILITIES: THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE FOUNDATION IS THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, AND SUPPORT OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES IN WEST VIRGINIA'S STATE PARKS AND FORESTS. SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS FUNDED IN 2018 INCLUDE: COMPLETING AND EQUIPPING THE NATURE CENTER IN THE BLACKWATER FALLS SP; FIRE RING AND OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES IN AUDRA SP; PLUMBING AND WATER SYSTEM UPGRADES IN CARNIFEX FERRY BATTLEFIELD SP; A UTILITY VEHICLE FOR TRAIL MAINTENANCE IN GREENBRIER STATE FOREST; FIRE RINGS AND NATURE PROGRAM SUPPORT IN LOST RIVER SP; CARPET REPLACEMENT IN THE CHIEF LOGAN SP LODGE; LED LIGHTING UPGRADES IN CHIEF LOGAN AND PIPESTEM STATE PARKS.
GRANTS TO LOCAL PARK FOUNDATIONS: THE WV STATE PARK SYSTEM HAS A PROGRAM WHERE PARK GUESTS CAN MAKE SMALL DONATIONS TO SUPPORT THE STATE'S PARKS. THE STATE GATHERS THE DONATIONS AND FORWARDS THEM TO THE FOUNDATION. SOME PARKS HAVE LOCAL 501(C)(3) FOUNDATIONS THAT SUPPORT THEM. IF DONATIONS ARE RECEIVED FROM A PARK WITH A FOUNDATION THE MONEY IS TRANSFERRED TO THAT FOUNDATION AS A GRANT. THE AMOUNT SHOWN IS THE TOTAL GRANTS MADE DURING THE YEAR.
