NPAF DEVELOPS AND DRIVES INITIATIVES PROMOTING EQUITABLE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE QUALITY HEALTH CARE THROUGH POLICY ACTION AND PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS. OUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS TO PRIORITIZE THE PATIENT VOICE IN HEALTH SYSTEM DELIVERY REFORM TO ACHIEVE PERSON-CENTERED CARE.

NATIONAL PATIENT ADVOCATE FOUNDATION (NPAF) PURSUES SYSTEM-LEVEL SOLUTIONS THROUGH PUBLIC POLICY AND PARTNERSHIPS TO SUPPORT PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND FINANCIAL WELL-BEING FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES COPING WITH COMPLEX AND CHRONIC CONDITIONS. AS PATIENT ADVOCATE FOUNDATION'S CHARITABLE 501(C)(3) ADVOCACY AFFILIATE, NPAF PRIORITIZES REFORMS THAT ADDRESS HEALTH INEQUITIES, OUTCOMES DISPARITIES AND UNMET NEEDS ENDURED BY PATIENT POPULATIONS OFTEN HARDEST HIT BY SOCIAL DRIVERS OF HEALTH, HEALTH-RELATED SOCIAL RISK, SYSTEMIC RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION.NPAF'S POLICY AND FIELD ADVOCACY PROGRAM HAS BUILT A COMMITTED NETWORK OF SKILLED PATIENT AND CAREGIVER ADVOCATES AS GRASSROOTS VOLUNTEERS. OUR VOLUNTEER "AMBASSADORS" ARE POSITIONED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM TO SHARE THEIR LIVED EXPERIENCES AND INSIGHTS TO INFORM HEALTHCARE CHANGE THROUGH ADVISORY GROUP ROLES, POLICY ISSUE BRIEFINGS, SKILLS AND RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND HEALTH REFORM CAMPAIGNS. NPAF INVESTED CONSIDERABLE STAFF EFFORT AND ORGANIZATIONAL RESOURCES IN BUILDING, MAINTAINING AND EXPANDING THIS PROGRAM TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS, WEBSITE CONTENT AND ACTIVITIES OF OUR VOLUNTEERS NATIONWIDE WHILE FOSTERING DEEPER RELATIONSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS AMONG THEM. MEMBERS OF NPAF'S NATIONAL PATIENT ADVOCATE NETWORK HAVE CULTIVATED STRONG TIES IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITIES AND ARE POSITIONED TO HELP ADVANCE COLLECTIVE ACTION FOR HEALTHCARE CHANGE. THESE ADVOCATES ARE HIGHLY MOTIVATED TO MOBILIZE BEHIND SHARED AIMS OF MITIGATING DISPARITIES AND US HEALTHCARE SYSTEM COMPLEXITIES THAT EXACERBATE BURDENS FOR COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, LBGTQ+ PATIENTS, JUSTICE-INVOLVED
THE POLICY CONSORTIUM BRINGS TOGETHER A DIVERSE GROUP OF ADVOCATES, EXPERTS AND GRASSROOTS ACTIVISTS TO DISCUSS THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES OF THE DAY, ALONG WITH PATIENT ADVOCATE FOUNDATION CASE MANAGERS AND PATIENTS THEY'VE SERVED. NPAF CONVENES PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY, FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND SOCIOECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES, WHO HAVE BEEN DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY THE FEATURED ISSUE. THE POLICY CONSORTIUM IS ANCHORED BY DATA. IT FEATURES REAL, DE-IDENTIFIED PATIENT DATA FROM THE PATIENT ADVOCATE FOUNDATION, HIGHLIGHTING LIVED PATIENT EXPERIENCES AND TRENDS OVER TIME. PAST POLICY CONSORTIUMS HAVE LED TO DIRECT ACTION ON ISSUES AS DIVERSE AS WELLNESS COVERAGE, TRANSPORTATION ACCESS AND SHARED DECISION-MAKING. THERE ARE TWO MEETINGS PER YEAR AS WELL AS ONGOING COMMUNICATIONS AND MATERIALS RELATED TO THE PARTICULAR MEETING TOPICS, SUCH AS NEWSLETTERS, VIDEO CONTENT, ISSUE BRIEFS, AND PEER-REVIEWED PUBLICATIONS. LAUNCHED IN 2021, WE CREATED THE ADVOCACY CURRICULUM FOR PEOPLE TO DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS IN ADVOCACY, BOTH SELF-ADVOCACY AND ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF OTHERS. WE HAVE COMPLETED EIGHT SEASONS OF THE ADVOCATES IN ACTION PODCAST SERIES. THIS PODCASTS REPRESENTS A DEEP, RICH LIBRARY OF PATIENT AND CAREGIVERS' VOICES AND PERSPECTIVES ON KEY ISSUES RELATED TO HEALTH CARE ACCESS AND EQUITY.
