LABORATORY ACCREDITATION AND PROFICIENCY TESTING PROGRAMS ASSIST LABORATORIES IN PURSUING EXCELLENCE BY ESTABLISHING HIGH STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE THAT PROMOTE THE PRODUCTION OF QUALITY DATA FOR USE IN EVALUATING EXPOSURES THAT IMPACT PUBLIC HEALTH, THE ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OPEN TO ALL LABORATORIES WISHING TO PARTICIPATE.REGISTRY PROGRAMS ADVANCE THE PROFESSION OF INDUSTRIAL/OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE AND RECOGNIZE AN INDIVIDUAL'S KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN SPECIFIC AREAS OF INDUSTRIAL/OCCUPATION HYGIENE, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OR SAFETY PRACTICE. THE PROGRAMS PROMOTE THE RECOGNITION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCY IN A SPECIALIZED AREA OF INDUSTRIAL/OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE PRACTICE. REGISTRY PROGRAMS ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS TO KEEP THEIR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE CURRENT BY DEMONSTRATING COMPETENCY THROUGH RECURRING ASSESSMENT.
AIHA PROVIDES PREMIER CONFERENCES FOR WORKPLACE INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE/OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY & HEALTH, AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCE PROFESSIONALS. CAREFULLY CURATED CONTENT, EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES, NETWORKING EVENTS, AND INDUSTRY EXHIBITORS EXPOSE ATTENDEES TO THE LATEST TRENDS, NEEDS, AND RESEARCH IMPACTING WORKER HEALTH. WORKPLACE SAFETY PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND WORLD SHARE INSIGHTS, TACKLE CHALLENGES, AND PARTNER IN THE PURSUIT OF THE BEST INDUSTRIAL SAFETY STANDARDS.
VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT SUPPORTS THE KEY VOLUNTEER FUNCTIONS OF AIHA. THERE ARE OVER 45 VOLUNTEER GROUPS OF TECHNICAL COMMITTEES, WORKING GROUPS, AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS THAT REPRESENT KEY AREAS OF THE INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE FIELD FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL ADVANCEMENT FOR THE AIHA. IN ADDITION TO THE VOLUNTEER GROUPS THERE ARE OVER 60 LOCAL SECTIONS ACROSS THE U.S. AND OTHER COUNTRIES THAT SERVE THE INTEREST OF THOSE PROFESSIONALS IN GEOGRAPHIC AREAS WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS. ALL OF THESE GROUPS ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE AIHA, AND ARE IN TURN SUPPORTED BY THE LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP WHICH HELPS TO TRAIN THE LEADERS OF THESE GROUPS AS WELL AS THE FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM THAT SEEKS TO DEVELOP YOUNG PROFESSIONALS WITH DEMONSTRATED POTENTIAL THAT WILL BE LEADERS OF THESE GROUPS GOING FORWARD.
