THE MISSION OF A WIDER CIRCLE IS TO ADVANCE EQUITY IN THE GREATER WASHINGTON, DC REGION BY FOSTERING THE EXCHANGE OF GOODS, SKILLS, AND CONNECTIONS FROM NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR, AND BY ENGAGING IN ADVOCACY TO ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSES OF POVERTY.

ESSENTIAL SUPPORT: A WIDER CIRCLE'S ESSENTIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM PROVIDES FURNITURE AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES LIVING AT OR BELOW THE NATIONAL POVERTY LINE. IN THE CALENDAR YEAR 2023, A WIDER CIRCLE FURNISHED 3,446 HOMES REDISTRIBUTING MORE THAN 33,000 PIECES OF FURNITURE AND DELIVERING ITEMS TO MORE THAN 320 HOMES. FAMILIES WHO RECEIVED ITEMS COULD SELECT FROM ALL BASIC NEED ITEMS SUCH AS BEDS, TABLES, CHAIRS, AND DRESSERS AS WELL AS DISHES, LINENS, AND OTHER ACCESSORIES. ADDITIONALLY, WE SUPPORTED 516 BABY APPOINTMENTS FOR NEWLY EXPECTING FAMILIES WITH KEY ITEMS SUCH AS CRIBS, STROLLERS, AND MORE.
PARTNERSHIP TO INDEPENDENCE: ADDITIONALLY, A WIDER CIRCLE CONTINUED ITS PARTNERSHIP TO INDEPENDENCE LONG TERM FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM THAT SUPPORTED COHORT ONE AS IT ENTERED ITS FIFTH AND FINAL YEAR AND BEGAN RECRUITING FOR COHORT TWO. IN COHORT ONE - MANY ARE NOW STABLY HOUSED AND GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. MANY HAVE WORKED OFF DEBT AND IMPROVED CREDIT SCORES AND ARE SEEKING TO IDENTIFY AND ACHIEVE KEY PROFESSIONAL OR EDUCATIONAL GOALS.
NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIPS: A WIDER CIRCLE'S NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM PROVIDED PLACE BASED SERVICES TO RESIDENTS OF THE WASHINGTON HIGHLANDS NEIGHBORHOOD OF WARD 8 SE DC. THE TEAM THERE HELD MORE THAN 120 WORKSHOPS, INSTALLED A LITTLE FREE LIBRARY, OFFERED MENTAL WELLNESS SERVICES, BECAME A NARCAN DISTRIBUTOR, LED 100+ HOURS OF CONFLICT AND GRIEF SESSIONS AND CONNECTED WITH MORE THAN 3,517 NEIGHBORS.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: A WIDER CIRCLE'S WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVED MORE THAN 1,720 INDIVIDUALS WITH PROFESSIONAL CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES, HELD MORE THAN 100 WORKSHOPS - BOTH IN PERSON AND VIRTUALLY, LAUNCHED A COACHING PILOT PROGRAM AND HAD MORE THAN 767 UNIQUE CLIENT TOUCHES.
