EDUCATE, ELEVATE, ADVOCATE - THE BROAD WORK OF CHURCHES FOR MIDDLE EAST PEACE (CMEP) IS TO EDUCATE, ELEVATE, AND ADVOCATE AS WE WORK TO ENCOURAGE US POLICIES THAT ACTIVELY PROMOTE A COMPREHENSIVE RESOLUTION TO CONFLICTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST WITH A FOCUS ON THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT. CMEP WORKS TO MOBILIZE U.S. CHRISTIANS TO EMBRACE A HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE AND TO BE ADVOCATES OF EQUALITY, HUMAN RIGHTS, SECURITY, AND JUSTICE FOR ISRAELIS, PALESTINIANS, AND ALL PEOPLE OF THE MIDDLE EAST. THIS INCLUDES EVENTS, ADVOCACY, RESOURCES, & TRIPS TO THE MIDDLE EAST. WE ADVOCATE FOR JUST U.S. POLICIES TOWARD THE MIDDLE EAST BY CONNECTING CITIZENS TO THEIR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN WAYS SUCH AS PROVIDING ACTION ALERTS, PARTICIPATING IN HILL & GOVERNMENT MEETINGS, AND HOSTING LARGE AND SMALL ADVOCACY EVENTS ONLINE AND IN PERSON. CMEP ISSUES RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS ON MIDDLE EAST TOPICS AND RELATED PUBLIC POLICY MATTERS, PREPARES NEWSLETTERS, FACT SHEETS, WHITE PAPERS, SPEECHES, AND PROGRAMS FOR MEMBER CHURCHES, RELATED AGENCIES AND OTHERS. WE CONDUCT GRASSROOTS EDUCATION AND OUTREACH, EQUIP CHURCHES THROUGH ISSUE EDUCATION AND ECUMENICAL COOPERATION RELATED TO THE MIDDLE EAST; PREPARE AND TRAIN VOLUNTEER CHURCH MEMBERS FOR COMMUNITY AND CONGREGATIONAL EDUCATION OF GENERAL PUBLIC AS WELL AS EDUCATE AND ADVOCATE WITH PUBLIC OFFICIALS BY PREPARING FACT SHEETS, LETTERS, AND OTHER RESOURCES AND PROVIDING INFORMATION TO PUBLIC OFFICIALS.
ANNUAL ADVOCACY SUMMIT - TYPICALLY HELD ONCE A YEAR IN PERSON IN D.C., CMEP'S ANNUAL ADVOCACY SUMMIT BRINGS TOGETHER INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN ADVOCATING ON BEHALF OF PEACE AND JUSTICE FOR ALL IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THEY LEARN FROM EXPERTS ON THE ISSUE AND ARE TRAINED TO SPEAK TO THE OFFICES OF THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE PEACE AND JUSTICE. THE SUMMIT WAS NOT HELD IN 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.
PILGRIMAGE TO PEACE - PILGRIMAGE TO PEACE EVENTS INCLUDE DOMESTIC SPEAKING TOURS, REGIONAL TRAVEL, WHICH IS CMEP STAFF TRAVELING AND SPEAKING AT CHURCHES, SCHOOLS, AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE U.S. AS WELL AS INTERNATIONALLY, CONFERENCE EXHIBITION (CMEP SPONSORING AND EXHIBITING AT OTHER CONFERENCE TO INFORM PEOPLE ABOUT OUR WORK), AND ADVOCACY EVENTS (BRIEFINGS, MINI ADVOCACY SUMMITS, DC SPEAKING EVENTS) TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT ISSUES RELATED TO THE MIDDLE EAST.
