STATE AND LOCAL STRATEGIC SERVICES/TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: THE STATE AND LOCAL STRATEGIC SERVICES/TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT PROVIDES DIRECT SERVICES AND UPSTREAM TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT COORDINATED, HOLISTIC HOUSING, HEALTH AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY INTERVENTIONS FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND OLDER ADULTS. THE DEPARTMENT TEAM WORKS TO INCREASE RESOURCES AND IMPLEMENT THE GHHI WHOLE HOUSE MODEL OF ALIGNED HEALTHY HOMES AND RESIDENTIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY SERVICES IN CITIES AND STATES AROUND THE COUNTRY, WITH PROGRAMS IN MICHIGAN, MISSISSIPPI, NEW JERSEY, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND AND TENNESSEE AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PARTNER SITES IN NEW YORK, UTAH AND WISCONSIN AMONG OTHERS BASED ON OUR FLAGSHIP MARYLAND PROGRAM AND STAFFED WITH GHHI PERSONNEL. GHHI STAFF ON THE LANCASTER GENERAL HOSPITAL LEAD FREE FAMILIES PROJECT MANAGED THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF LEAD HAZARD REMEDIATION INTERVENTIONS IN 218 HOMES IN LANCASTER COUNTY, PA IN 2023 AS PART OF THE 10-YEAR $50 MILLION INVESTMENT BY THE HOSPITAL. IN NEW JERSEY PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW JERSEY WHOLE HOUSE MODEL WHERE GHHI, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW JERSEY BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES, IS IMPLEMENTING A HOLISTIC ENERGY EFFICIENCY, ELECTRIFICATION AND HEALTHY HOMES HOUSING INTERVENTION MODEL IN 100 LOW INCOME HOMES IN TRENTON.
POLICY AND INNOVATION: THE POLICY AND INNOVATION DEPARTMENT WORK TO ADVANCE POLICES AND IMPLEMENT MODELS TO SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES FOR HEALTHY HOUSING, INCLUDING LOOKING AT NEW FUNDING PATHWAYS, PARTNERSHIPS WITH SECTORS SUCH AS HEALTHCARE, AND MAKING THE BUSINESS CASE FOR INVESTING IN HEALTHY HOUSING AND BUILDING UP LOCAL CAPACITY. GHHI PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ASTHMA, HOUSEHOLD INJURY AND OTHER HEALTH PREVENTION PROJECTS AROUND THE COUNTY, CONDUCTING DATA ANALYSIS AND DESIGNING PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN HOUSING AND HEALTHCARE THAT CAN RESULT IN SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE FUNDED PREVENTIVE PROGRAMS. THE $4.75 MILLION NEW YORK HEALTHY HOMES COLLABORATIVE OUTCOMES-BASED, ASTHMA PREVENTION FINANCING PROJECT WITH AFFINITY BY MOLINA THAT GHHI HELPED TO DEVELOP, HAS PROVIDED PREVENTIVE SERVICES TO 303 AFFINITY MEMBERS WITH ASTHMA TO DATE. IN 2023, GHHI COMPLETED ITS MANAGEMENT OF THE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA FALL PREVENTION PROGRAM THAT PROVIDED FALL PREVENTION SERVICES TO 460 BCBS MEMBERS IN NORTH CAROLINA.CLIMATE, ENERGY AND EQUITY: THE CLIMATE, ENERGY AND EQUITY DEPARTMENT IS COMMITTED TO DIRECT SERVICES, RESEARCH, ADVOCACY, DISSEMINATION OF BEST PRACTICES AND TECHNICAL AND STRATEGIC GUIDANCE AND PARTNERSHIPS THAT REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS THROUGH INCREASED RESIDENTIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY, ELECTRIFICATION AND DECARBONIZATION, AND IMPROVED HOUSING CONDITIONS. THE DEPARTMENT ADVANCES COORDINATED APPROACHES TO HEALTHY, SAFE, ENERGY EFFICIENT, DECARBONIZED, AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING AT THE FEDERAL AND LOCAL LEVEL BY PROMOTING INTERAGENCY COORDINATION AND INCREASED SUPPORT FOR ELECTRIFICATION. THROUGH COMMUNITY LEVEL ENGAGEMENT, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES, AND NATIONAL POLICY LEADERSHIP AND ADVOCACY, THE DEPARTMENT ALSO SEEKS TO ACHIEVE: ADOPTION OF ELECTRIFICATION AS A HEALTH AND CLIMATE-BASED HOUSING STANDARD, ADOPTION OF ZERO EMISSIONS APPLIANCE STANDARDS, AND STATE LEVEL ADVANCEMENT OF POLICIES FOR COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHY HOMES AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY UPGRADES INCLUDING THE ALIGNMENT OF CLIMATE, HEALTH AND HOUSING SECTORS.DATA MANAGEMENT: THE DATA, EVALUATION AND LEARNING DEPARTMENT FOSTERS A CULTURE THAT PROMOTES THE USE OF DATA TO LEARN, ITERATE AND IMPROVE PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES ACROSS ALL FACETS OF GHHI AND THE BROADER HEALTHY HOMES COMMUNITY. MARYLAND DIRECT SERVICES PROGRAM: THE MARYLAND DIRECT SERVICES PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT PROVIDES OUTREACH AND TRAINING, RESIDENT EDUCATION, CASE MANAGEMENT, TENANTS' RIGHTS AND LEGAL ASSISTANCE, HOUSING RELOCATION ASSISTANCE, HOUSING INSPECTIONS, AND COMPREHENSIVE HOUSING INTERVENTIONS IN LOW INCOME HOMES IN MARYLAND INCLUDING LEAD HAZARD, ASTHMA TRIGGER AND HOUSEHOLD INJURY RISK REMEDIATION, AGING IN PLACE MODIFICATIONS, AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND WEATHERIZATION INTERVENTIONS. IN 2023, GHHI EXPANDED ITS INTEGRATED MODEL TO CONDUCT SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATIONS AND ELECTRIFICATION SERVICES FOR CLIENTS TO INCREASE ACCESS IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES TO RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES AND DECARBONIZATION MEASURES THAT REDUCE ENERGY COSTS AND CLIMATE IMPACT WHILE IMPROVING OCCUPANT HEALTH.

IN 2023, GHHI WAS AWARDED A $50 MILLION EPA REGION 3 ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE THRIVING COMMUNITIES GRANTMAKING PROGRAM GRANT TO SERVE AS THE GRANTMAKER IN AWARDING 171 GRANTS TO COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS CONDUCTING ELIGIBLE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PROJECTS IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES IN REGION 3 THAT INCLUDES: DELAWARE, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, MARYLAND, PENNSYLVANIA, VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA, AND SEVEN FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES.
