THE GSOP IS AN ORGANIZATION OF 28 RELIGIOUS CONGREGATIONS, COMMUNITY GROUPS AND LABOR UNIONS WORKING TOGETHER TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN SOUTH-CENTRAL NH THROUGH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, ADVOCACY AND GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING.

IMMIGRANT SUPPORT/CENTRO LATINO: STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ORGANIZED 5 FREE COMMUNITY COVID VACCINATION CLINIC IN THE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES OF MANCHESTER. STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS CONDUCTED MULTI LINGUAL OUTREACH IN COMMUNITIES CONCERNING COVID -19 AND THE IMPORTANCE OF VACCINES. DURING COVID TRAINING SERIES WERE CONDUCTED IN SPANISH, TRAINING MORE THAN 50 TRUSTED MESSENGERS TO PROMOTE PUBLIC HEALTH IN MANCHESTER'S & NASHUA'S LATINO COMMUNITIES. MEMBERS ALSO MET WITH THE NH CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO PRESS FOR JUSTICE FOR IMMIGRANT FAMILIES AND HELD VIGILS FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS.
NON-PARTISAN VOTER ENGAGEMENT/ELECTION JUSTICE: GRANITE STATE ORGANIZING PROJECT'S STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS KNOCK ON DOORS AND RUN PHONE BANKS TO SURVEY AND TALK WITH RESIDENTS ABOUT THEIR CONCERNS. THE STAFF AND LEADERS BUILD RELATIONSHIP WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND INFORM THEM ABOUT THEIR VOTING RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT OF RETURNING CITIZENS TO VOTE AND THE RIGHT TO REQUEST LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE WHILE VOTING. GSOP ENCOURAGES ALL ELIGIBLE CITIZENS TO EXERCISE THEIR CIVIC DUTY AND TO PARTICIPATE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT STRUCTURES AND VOTE IN LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL ELECTIONS.
HOUSING JUSTICE: GSOP OUTREACH WORKERS CONTACTED THOUSANDS OF LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS TO INFORM THEM ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF THE NH EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE. GSOP STAFF AND VOLUNTEER ASSISTED MORE THAN 500 INDIVIDUALS WITH FILLING OUT AND FILING APPLICATIONS FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE, HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE AND THE CHILD TAX CREDIT. VOLUNTEERS RAN WEEKLY TENANT CLINICS IN BOTH MANCHESTER AND NASHUA. GSOP CONTINUES TO WORK WITH RESIDENTS OF PUBLIC HOUSING AND OTHER LOW-INCOME TENANTS TO PRESS LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND HOUSING AUTHORITIES TO TREAT THEIR RESIDENTS WITH DIGNITY AND TO SUPPORT THE CREATION OF MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING. ADDITIONALLY, GSOP SUPPORTED LEGISLATION THAT WOULD GIVE TENANTS NOTICE WHEN THEIR RENT WOULD INCREASE, LEGISLATION PREVENTING EVICTIONS. OUR MANCHESTER AND NASHUA GROUPS ORGANIZED TO PRESS THEIR RESPECTIVE CITY GOVERNMENTS TO SUPPORT MORE HOUSING FRIENDLY AND AFFORDABLE POLICIES.
