IN 2020, HEALTH SECURITY PARTNERS (HSP) CONTINUED TO SUPPORT U.S. EFFORTS TO PREVENT, DETECT AND RESPOND TO GLOBAL BIOLOGICAL THREATS. HSP'S THREE LARGEST PROGRAM SERVICE AREAS ARE NATIONAL SECURITY, DIPLOMACY AND DEVELOPMENT. SPECIFICALLY, HSP PROVIDED HEALTH SECURITY POLICY TRAINING TO INTERNATIONAL FELLOWS, AND WORKED WITH INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS UNIVERSITY PARTNERS TO DEVELOP A RANGE OF CAPABILITIES SURROUNDING BIOLOGICAL THREAT REDUCTION. HSP PROVIDED SMALL GRANTS TO SUPPORT U.S. DEVELOPMENT AND DIPLOMACY EFFORTS AS WELL, ALLOWING RESOURCE CONSTRAINED NATIONS TO ENGAGE WITH U.S. EXPERTS TO DEVELOP LOCAL SOLUTIONS TO GLOBAL HEALTH SECURITY CHALLENGES. HSP SUPPORTED POLICY-RELEVANT RISK ASSESSMENTS ON EMERGING SECURITY THREATS. THESE ASSESSMENTS LEVERAGE EXPERTS AND ROBUST METHODOLOGIES. PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: TO DETERMINE THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY, DUAL-USE RESEARCH, AND EMERGING BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES IN COUNTRIES WITH EMERGING HEALTH SECURITY RISKS.
