HABITAT OMAHA HELPS FUND ITS CONSTRUCTION AND REMOVAL OF BLIGHTED PROPERTIES THROUGH RESTORE AND ITS DECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM. RECLAIMED BUILDING MATERIALS, DONATED PAINT, USED FURNITURE, APPLIANCES, AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS CREATE AN OUTLET FOR THE COMMUNITY TO ACCESS AFFORDABLE BUILDING MATERIALS OFFERED THROUGH OUR RESTORES AT A FRACTION OF THE RETAIL PRICE, WITH PROCEEDS SUPPORTING HABITAT OMAHA'S HOMEOWNERSHIP AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING EFFORTS. THE DECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM REMOVES VALUABLE BUILDING MATERIALS, WINDOWS AND OTHER TREASURES FROM BLIGHTED AND CONDEMNED STRUCTURES SLATED FOR DEMOLITION. IN 2023, HABITAT OMAHA RESTORES SOLD 215,000 INDIVIDUAL ITEMS, AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM, KEPT 1800 TONS OF BUILDING MATERIALS OUT OF AREA LANDFILLS. RESTORE ALSO PROVIDES ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR CORPORATE AND PUBLIC VOLUNTEERS TO SUPPLEMENT AND SUPPORT HABITAT OMAHA TEAM MEMBERS.
