HOME BUYER SERVICES- NWL OFFERS PRE-PURCHASE HOMEBUYER EDUCATION IN ADDITION TO HOMEOWNERSHIP FINANCING FOR QUALIFYING INDIVIDUALS. IN YEAR 2021, WE PROVIDED 161 HOUSEHOLDS (220 INDIVIDUALS) PRE-PURCHASE HOMEBUYER EDUCATION. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE UTILIZED ZOOM MEETINGS WHEN THE CITY RATES WERE IN THE HIGH CATEGORY. WE PROVIDED 47 CLIENT HOUSEHOLDS WITH DOWN PAYMENT AND REHAB ASSISTANCE FOR THEIR HOME PURCHASE. FAIR HOUSING ACTIVITIES INCLUDED SOCIAL MEDIA PROMOTION, EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, AND DISTRIBUTION OF RESOURCE INFORMATION INCLUDING NEW INFORMATION ON LINCOLN'S REDLINING HISTORY.
REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT- NWL ACQUIRES SUBSTANDARD OR VACANT PROPERTIES THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF LINCOLN FOR REDEVELOPMENT. THESE EFFORTS LEAD TO ENHANCED QUALITY OF THE HOUSING STOCK WHILE PRESERVING NEIGHBORHOODS AND OFFERING AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOW-TO-MODERATE INCOME FIRST-TIME BUYERS. A RESOURCE FAIR ORGANIZED BY NWL'S COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE (CLI) MEMBERS GAVE INFORMATION TO LOCAL RENTERS ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS AND RESOURCES. TWO NEIGHBORHOOD TOURS WERE HELD DETAILING THE HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MALONE/HAWLEY NEIGHBORHOOD. WITH THE HELP OF LOCAL YOUTH FROM THE ASIAN CULTURAL COMMUNITY CENTER AND HOPESPOKE, A MURAL WAS RETOUCHED AND LOCAL PARTNERS INVITED TO CELEBRATE THE MURAL AND ITS HISTORY.
