OUR ECOSYSTEM BUILDING PROGRAM WORKS TO FACILITATE AND SUPPORT A MULTISECTORAL NETWORK OF LEADERS TO CO-CREATE AND BUILD A NEW MOVEMENT TO CONFRONT AND DISMANTLE U.S. COLONIALISM. KEY HIGHLIGHTS: A LISTENING TOUR WITH 17 COMMUNITY DIALOGUES AND 200 PARTICIPANTS ACROSS ALL FIVE TERRITORIES; A SUMMIT ON U.S. COLONIALISM THAT BROUGHT TOGETHER MORE THAN 50 LEADERS FROM EACH TERRITORY, THEIR DIASPORA, CIVIL RIGHTS, AND PHILANTHROPY TO BUILD UNDERSTANDING, SOLIDARITY, AND CO-CREATE STRATEGIES FOR CHANGE; CO-CREATING AND FACILITATING A NEW CROSS-TERRITORIAL COALITION FOCUSED ON ADVOCACY, LITIGATION, ORGANIZING, INTERNATIONAL LAW & INDIGENOUS RIGHTS, AND EDUCATION & MEDIA; MONTHLY CROSS-TERRITORIAL VIRTUAL CONVERSATIONS.
OUR PARTICIPATORY ADVOCACY PROGRAM WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE TO DEVELOP HIGH-IMPACT POLICY ADVOCACY AND LITIGATION FOCUSED ON DRIVING SYSTEMIC CHANGE AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACROSS ALL THREE BRANCHES OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. KEY HIGHLIGHTS: ENGAGING CONGRESSIONAL, CIVIL RIGHTS, AND COMMUNITY ALLIES TO SUCCESSFULLY PRESS THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TO CONDEMN THE INSULAR CASES; DEVELOPING NEW LITIGATION FOCUSED ON DEMOCRACY, SELF-GOVERNANCE, AND SELF-DETERMINATION; ADVANCING EQUITY IN FEDERAL BENEFITS PROGRAMS AND VETERANS SERVICES; ADDRESSING ISSUES OF CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE; LEVERAGING MORE THAN 1,500 HOURS IN PRO BONO SUPPORT.
OUR NARRATIVE AND CULTURAL CHANGE PROGRAM WORKS TO COMBAT THE CULTURAL NORMALIZATION OF UNDEMOCRATIC COLONIAL RULE IN U.S. TERRITORIES. WE DO THIS THROUGH ENGAGEMENT WITH JOURNALISTS, EDUCATORS, ARTISTS, AND OTHERS, BOTH IN THE TERRITORIES AND THROUGHOUT THE U.S., LEVERAGING OUR ADVOCACY TO RAISE THE VISIBILITY OF THESE ISSUES. KEY HIGHLIGHTS: A YOUTH ARTS COMPETITION WHERE OVER 100 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM EACH TERRITORY USED ART TO EXPRESS WHAT DEMOCRACY MEANS TO THEM; OP-ED PLACEMENTS IN NATIONAL AND LOCAL MEDIA; A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN ON THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TREATY OF PARIS; AND A 14,000 WORD NYT ESSAY FROM AN RTD CLIENT IN GUAM TITLED THE AMERICANS THAT AMERICA FORGOT.
