YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE OVER 300,000 PEOPLE IN ISRAEL WITH FOOD AND BASIC SUPPLIES FOR THOSE LIVING IN POVERTY BY DISTRIBUTING 12,000 WEEKLY FOOD BASKETS. WITH A FOCUS ON CHILDREN WE TRY TO ENSURE THAT HUNDREDS OF UNDER-PRIVILEGED CHILDREN RECEIVE A HOT LUNCH DAILY, HELP WITH THEIR HOMEWORK, TUTORING, THERAPIES, BASIC CLOTHES AND SHOES AND EVEN PARTICIPATION IN A SUMMER CAMP TO HELP THEM BREAK OUT OF THE CYCLE OF POVERTY. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES CHILDREN, WIDOWS, ORPHANS, NEEDY FAMILIES, SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES, HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS, HANDICAPPED, NEW IMMIGRANTS AND ANYONE WHO NEEDS A HELPING HAND. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES GRANTS TO THE ISRAELI NON-PROFIT YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT WHICH IS THE LARGEST DISTRIBUTOR OF FOOD BASKETS IN ISRAEL DISTRIBUTING 12,000 WEEKLY FOOD BASKETS AND VOUCHERS IN 93 DISTRIBUTION POINTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. OVER 50,000 FOOD BASKETS AND FOOD COUPONS ARE GIVEN FOR ROSH HASHANAH AND PASSOVER TO ISRAEL'S NEEDIEST FAMILIES. FOOD BASKETS INCLUDE CHICKEN, RICE, NOODLES, FRUITS, VEGETABLES, CANNED GOODS, MILK PRODUCTS AND VARIOUS OTHER PRODUCTS (DEPENDING ON THE IN-KIND DONATIONS RECEIVED). BENEFICIARIES ARE IMPOVERISHED PEOPLE SUCH AS HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS, WIDOWS, ORPHANS, SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES, FAMILIES WITH A DISABLED PARENT, THE ELDERLY, NEW IMMIGRANTS, ETC. YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT SUPPORTS 1500 WIDOWS AND THEIR ORPHANS WITH WEEKLY FOOD BASKETS AND MONTHLY FOOD VOUCHERS THROUGHOUT ISRAEL TO MAKE THEIR LIVES MORE BEARABLE. YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT DELIVERS OVER A THOUSAND CANS OF BABY FORMULA AND DIAPERS EACH MONTH TO HUNDREDS OF MOTHERS AND SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP. YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT'S CHILDREN CENTERS GIVE HOPE FOR A BETTER FUTURE TO HUNDREDS OF IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN IN ISRAEL, INCLUDING HOPE FOR BREAKING THE CYCLE OF POVERTY, ONE CHILD AT A TIME. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A DAILY HOT LUNCH (USUALLY THE CHILDREN'S ONLY HOT MEAL FOR THE DAY), TUTORING, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT THROUGH ART, MUSIC, AND ANIMAL THERAPIES AND A FUN SUMMER CAMP. DAILY HOT LUNCHES ARE DELIVERED TO THE HOMES OF HUNDREDS OF NEEDY CHILDREN IN JERUSALEM. EVERY YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION DELIVERS THOUSANDS OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES, BACKPACKS AND WINTER GEAR (COATS, BOOTS, SWEATERS, HEATERS, BLANKETS ETC.) TO NEEDY CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT DELIVERS FOOD-FILLED TRUCKS TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN WAR-TORN CITIES. SINCE OCTOBER 7TH, THE ORGANIZATION HAS SENT OVER 100 FOOD TRUCKS TO WAR- TORN FAMILIES AND HAS SUPPORTED 10,000 EVACUATED WAR-AFFECTED PEOPLE THROUGH FINANCIAL, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, DAILY ACTIVITIES AND MORE. YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT ALSO SUPPORTS LONE SOLDIERS WHO HAVE LEFT EVERYTHING BEHIND AND HAVE NO FAMILY IN ISRAEL WITH FOOD VOUCHERS TO LOCAL GROCERY STORES AND SNACKS WHEN THEY ARE OFF DUTY. OVER 100 POOR ETHIOPIAN-ISRAELI FAMILIES IN JERUSALEM RECEIVE FOOD BASKETS, AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND OTHER SUPPORT TO HELP THEM BREAK OUT OF THE POVERTY CYCLE. YAD EZRA V'SHULAMIT HELPS HUNDREDS OF POOR OR ORPHANED BRIDES AND GROOMS GET MARRIED IN THREE SUBSIDIZED WEDDING HALLS IN JERUSALEM AND TZFAT.
