FIGHT BACKCPDA MOUNTS AGGRESSIVE CAMPAIGNS TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST NATIONAL POLICIES THAT ARE DESTRUCTIVE TO OUR AFFILIATES' COMMUNITIES. WE PRIORITIZE WORK THAT FOCUSES ON TAXES, BUDGET, HEALTHCARE, SAFETY NET PROGRAMS, INFRASTRUCTURE, IMMIGRATION, AND FINANCIAL INDUSTRY DEREGULATION. WE ALSO ADDRESS POTENTIAL NOMINATIONS TO HIGH LEVEL POLICY AND JUDICIAL POSITIONS. IN THE COURSE OF THESE FIGHTBACK CAMPAIGNS WE ALSO SEEK OUT OPPORTUNITIES TO PROMOTE CPDA'S PROGRESSIVE POLICY ALTERNATIVES. IN 2021, WE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED CPDA NETWORK'S CAPACITY FOR FEDERAL ADVOCACY AND WON MAJOR VICTORIES WITHIN IIJA, THE HOUSE'S BBB PACKAGE, UI REFORM (SEE OUR PREVIOUS REPORT), AND THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT (INCLUDING LOWER PRESCRIPTION COSTS FOR SENIORS, $369B FOR CLEAN ENERGY, PROGRESSIVE CORPORATE TAXES AND PREVENTIVE FINANCIALIZATION TAXES, AND MILLIONS OF GOOD JOBS).

CPDA'S BASE BUILDING PROGRAM PROVIDES DIRECT FIELD CAPACITY TO OUR AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS, HELPS THEM BUILD MEMBERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP IN COMMUNITIES MOST IMPACTED BY STRUCTURAL RACISM AND CAPITALISM. CPDA PROVIDES POLITICAL TRAININGS, DIRECT CAPACITY FOR MEMBER ACQUISITION, TRAIN-THE-TRAINERS EXPERIENCES, AND DIRECT TRAINING TO GRASSROOTS LEADERS. IN 2021, WE DEVELOPED FOUNDATIONAL AGREEMENTS--SECURING THE COMMITMENT OF MORE THAN HALF OF AFFILIATES--TO BUILD A SHARED BASE, LAUNCHED KEY COMPONENTS FOR OUR ORGANIZING INFRASTRUCTURE: NATIONAL CANVASSES TO PROVIDE SCALED OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT, VIRTUAL SHARED WORKSPACES TO PUSH RIGOROUS ORGANIZING, AND SHARED DATA INFRASTRUCTURE, HOSTED 120 TRAINING EVENTS WITH OVER 1,417 ATTENDEES IN 2021, TRAINED OVER 430 NEW LEADERS AS A PART OF OUR WORK TO BUILD A LONG-TERM PIPELINE OF MOVEMENT LEADERS WITH OUR FIELD ORGANIZERS, LEAD ORGANIZERS, AND NEW LEADER TRAINING MODULES; OVER 150 ORGANIZERS FROM 24 AFFILIATES PARTICIPATED IN OUR PERMANENT CAPACITY-BUILDING PROGRAM, AND NURTURED A GENERATIVE COMMUNITY OF ACTION THROUGH OUR FACILITATED LEARNING COMMUNITIES FOR AFFILIATES, WITH 21 TRAINING EVENTS FOR OPERATIONS/FUNDRAISING STAFF AND 10 FOR ORGANIZING DIRECTORS.
