CAMPAIGNSCPD'S CAMPAIGNS PROGRAM ORGANIZES CAMPAIGNS IN CONCERT WITH OUR NETWORK ORGANIZATIONS THAT AIM TO ENSURE OUR COMMUNITIES HAVE ACCESS TO GOOD SCHOOLS, AFFORDABLE HOUSING, QUALITY HEALTHCARE, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR IMMIGRANTS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM, GREATER CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY, A RESILIENT AND FAIR ECONOMY, AND A ROBUST AND RESPONSIVE DEMOCRACY. IN 2021, CPD WORKED WITH OUR 48 AFFILIATES AND OTHER PARTNERS TO WIN OVER 40 POLICY VICTORIES IMPACTING TENS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.
MODEL A FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMLOCAL PROGRESS (LP) IS A MOVEMENT OF PROGRESSIVE ELECTED OFFICIALS ADVANCING RACIAL AND ECONOMIC EQUITY THROUGH ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT. WE ARE ELECTED LEADERS WHO BUILD POWER WITH UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES, SHARE BOLD IDEAS, POLICY, AND WINNING STRATEGY AMONG OUR NETWORK AND FIGHT TO RESHAPE WHAT IS POSSIBLE IN LOCALITIES ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. LOCAL PROGRESS ALSO ORGANIZES MEMBERS TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY TO SHIFT POWER DYNAMICS AND POLICY OUTCOMES AT THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL. IN 2021, LOCAL PROGRESS BUILT CAPACITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE TO INCREASE ALIGNMENT, SHARED STRATEGY, AND TRANS-LOCAL COLLABORATION, ORGANIZED TO EXERCISE COLLECTIVE ACTION, AND REDEFINED THE ROLE OF ELECTED OFFICIALS IN THE PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT AND BUILT A NEW MODEL OF GOVERNANCE. THEY ORGANIZED THEIR FIRST EVER NATIONAL LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY MEETING BRINGING IN 85 ELECTED OFFICIALS TO AFFIRM THEIR NEW STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK, TRAINED OVER 100 STATE AND LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS THROUGH THE PROGRESSIVE GOVERNANCE ACADEMY, AND ENGAGED HUNDREDS OF MEMBERS ON A FEDERAL AGENDA THAT INCLUDES RENT RELIEF, EVICTION MORATORIUM, ENDING DIGITAL REDLINING, CHANGING THE TERMS OF THE COPS GRANT, AND A PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP.
BASEBUILDING (INCLUDING THE CANVASS)CPD'S BASEBUILDING PROGRAM PROVIDES DIRECT FIELD CAPACITY TO OUR NETWORK OF ORGANIZATIONS AND BUILDS MEMBERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP IN COMMUNITIES MOST IMPACTED BY STRUCTURAL RACISM AND CAPITALISM. CPD PROVIDES COACHING, TRAIN-THE-TRAINERS EXPERIENCES, AND DIRECT TRAINING TO ORGANIZING STAFF AND GRASSROOTS LEADERS. THESE TRAININGS HELP LEADERS DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS FOR BASEBUILDING, TAKING ACTION, AND WINNING CAMPAIGNS. IN 2021, WE DEVELOPED FOUNDATIONAL AGREEMENTS--SECURING THE COMMITMENT OF MORE THAN HALF OF AFFILIATES--TO BUILD A SHARED BASE, LAUNCHED KEY COMPONENTS FOR OUR ORGANIZING INFRASTRUCTURE: NATIONAL CANVASSES TO PROVIDE SCALED OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT, VIRTUAL SHARED WORKSPACES TO PUSH RIGOROUS ORGANIZING, AND SHARED DATA INFRASTRUCTURE, HOSTED 120 TRAINING EVENTS WITH OVER 1,417 ATTENDEES IN 2021, TRAINED OVER 430 NEW LEADERS AS A PART OF OUR WORK TO BUILD A LONG-TERM PIPELINE OF MOVEMENT LEADERS WITH OUR FIELD ORGANIZERS, LEAD ORGANIZERS, AND NEW LEADER TRAINING MODULES; OVER 150 ORGANIZERS FROM 24 AFFILIATES PARTICIPATED IN OUR PERMANENT CAPACITY-BUILDING PROGRAM, AND NURTURED A GENERATIVE COMMUNITY OF ACTION THROUGH OUR FACILITATED LEARNING COMMUNITIES FOR AFFILIATES, WITH 21 TRAINING EVENTS FOR OPERATIONS/FUNDRAISING STAFF AND 10 FOR ORGANIZING DIRECTORS.
