SCHUYLER CENTER FOR ANALYSIS AND ADVOCACY IS DEDICATED TO SHAPING AND ADVANCING PUBLIC POLICY SOLUTIONS THAT IMPROVE THE WELL-BEING OF DISENFRANCHISED NEW YORK STATE RESIDENTS.

HEALTH - SCHUYLER CENTER FOR ANALYSIS AND ADVOCACY LEADS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE WORKGROUPS AND COALITIONS FOCUSED ON GENERATING BETTER HEALTH AND WELL- BEING FOR ALL NEW YORKERS, WITH FOCUSED ATTENTION ON ELIMINATING RACIAL INEQUITIES. SCHUYLER CENTER HELPS LEAD MEDICAID MATTERS NEW YORK, THE COALITION FOCUSED ON MEDICAID CONSUMER CONCERNS. SCHUYLER CENTER WORKS ACROSS SECTORS TO IMPROVE POLICIES IN HEALTH COVERAGE AND ACCESS, EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT, PUBLIC HEALTH, MENTAL AND DENTAL HEALTH, CHILD CARE, FAMILY ECONOMIC SECURITY, AND CHILD WELFARE.


CHILD WELFARE/EARLY CHILDHOOD - SCHUYLER CENTER FOR ANALYSIS AND ADVOCACY ADVANCES POLICIES FOR EFFECTIVE, HIGH QUALITY SYSTEMS THAT SERVE AND ARE ACCESSIBLE TO LOW-INCOME AND OTHER FAMILIES WHO NEED THEM. SCHUYLER CENTER FOCUSES ON PREVENTING ENTRY INTO THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM WITH POLICIES AND SUPPORTS THAT STRENGTHEN FAMILIES AND IMPROVING WELL-BEING FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE IN CARE. SCHUYLER CENTER ADVOCATES FOR ACCOUNTABILITY OF PUBLIC SYSTEMS, INCLUDING DATA REGARDING EXPENDITURES AND OUTCOMES. DATA SHOW HIGH QUALITY EARLY EXPERIENCES -- CHILD CARE, HOME VISITATION, PRE-K -- CAN SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES AND REDUCE DISPARITIES. SCHUYLER CENTER ADVANCES EQUITABLE AND HIGH QUALITY SYSTEMS AND SUPPORTS FOR ALL NEW YORK FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.


FAMILY ECONOMIC SECURITY - SCHUYLER CENTER FOR ANALYSIS AND ADVOCACY PROMOTES POLICIES THAT STRENGTHEN FAMILY ECONOMIC SECURITY. NEARLY ONE IN FIVE NEW YORK CHILDREN LIVE IN POVERTY, WHILE NEARLY ONE IN THREE BLACK CHILDREN LIVE IN POVERTY. CHILD POVERTY RATES IN SOME NEW YORK STATE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES EXCEED 50%. CHILD POVERTY CAN SET A CHILD UP FOR A LIFETIME OF CHALLENGES AND PUBLIC POLICY CAN MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE TOWARD CUTTING AND MITIGATING THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF CHILD POVERTY. SCHUYLER CENTER WORKS TO SHAPE TAX AND OTHER POLICIES THAT AFFECT FAMILY ECONOMIC SECURITY.
