CARE PROGRAM: THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE FOR RAMADAN AND EID PROGRAM WE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO 500 FAMILIES IN NEED TO HELP THEM PREPARE FOR THE MUSLIM HOLIDAYS RAMADAN AND EID-UL-FITR. THIS ASSISTANCE INCLUDES (1) CARE PACKAGES WITH FOOD SUPPLIES PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF RAMADAN, (2) GENTLY USED/NEW FORMAL ETHNIC ATTIRE PRIOR TO THE EID HOLIDAY, (3) EID GIFTS AND GIFT CARD DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILIES PRIOR TO THE EID HOLIDAY, AND (4) FOOD DISTRIBUTION FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS IN DOWNTOWN ORLANDO.
HOPE IN A BASKET: THIS IS OUR ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DRIVE IN COLLABORATION WITH CENTRAL FLORIDA LOW-INCOME AND TITLE 1 SCHOOLS. EVERY YEAR ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING BREAK, WE PARTNER WITH OVER A DOZEN SCHOOLS IN ORANGE, OSCEOLA, AND SEMINOLE COUNTIES TO DISTRIBUTE BAGS FULL OF EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR A THANKSGIVING MEAL, INCLUDING A GIFT CARD TO PURCHASE TURKEY.
GENDER EQUITY PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM ADVOCATES FOR GENDER EQUITY WITHIN THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY THROUGH (1) BUILDING AWARENESS ABOUT WOMEN'S RIGHTS IN ISLAM AS IT RELATED TO SPECIFIC ISSUES AFFECTING WOMEN, (2) PROVIDING TRAINING PROGRAMS, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL EXPERTS, FOR WOMEN LEADERS TO ADDRESS SOCIETAL PROBLEMS LIKE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, LACK OF INCLUSIVE SPACES AND MORE, AND (3) PROVIDING A SUPPORTIVE AND WELCOMING SPACE FOR WOMEN TO CONNECT AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER IN THEIR STRUGGLES.
