OUR MISSION IS TO PIONEER UNIVERSAL ACCESS TO LEGAL HELP.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

OUR CORE PROGRAM DIRECTLY REPRESENTS RESIDENTS OF SAN FRANCISCO LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES OF COLOR IN OVER 35 AREAS OF THE LAW. WE AIM TO CREATE THE LEGAL-EQUIVALENT OF A GENERAL HOSPITAL, AS THE PROVIDER THAT ENSURES ALL RESIDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO LEGAL HELP. OUR WORK CHANGES HUNDREDS OF LIVES EACH YEAR AND WE'VE DOCUMENTED A SOCIAL RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI) OF 1:21. ONE CASE FROM 2021 IS ILLUSTRATED. WE REPRESENTED A YOUNG WOMAN FROM EL SALVADOR WHO FLED YEARS OF DOMESTIC AND ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ABUSE BY HER UNCLE. AFTER BEING HELD IN IMMIGRATION DETENTION FOR SEVERAL MONTHS IN IMPERIAL COUNTY, SHE WAS RELEASED INTO THE CUSTODY OF HER MOTHER AND STEPFATHER IN SAN FRANCISCO. WE HELPED HER OBTAIN PREDICATE ORDERS THROUGH SF PROBATE COURT AND SUBMITTED AN I-360 PETITION FOR SPECIAL IMMIGRANT JUVENILE STATUS TO USCIS SO SHE CAN REMAIN WITH HER FAMILY IN THE U.S. AND AVOID DEPORTATION. WE GOT A PROBATE COURT GUARDIANSHIP ORDER AND THE JUDGE HAS APPROVED HER SIJ APPLICATION. WE CONSIDER THE SAFETY OF OUR CLIENTS A HUGE SUCCESS.
