THE MISSION OF NICAPHOTO IS TO EMPOWER DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVING IN THE POOREST BARRIOS OF NICARAGUA, ALLOWING THEM TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL, AND IN DOING SO, TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF EXTREME POVERTY.

NICAPHOTO'S AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM SERVES 134 CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING IN SOME OF THE POOREST BARRIOS IN NAGAROTE, NICARAGUA. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE THE PROPER SUPPORTS TO INCREASE SCHOOL GRADUATION RATES. THE PROGRAM IS HOLISTIC IN NATURE AND FOCUSED ON EDUCATION, ART, AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE AND REINFORCEMENT; A YOUTH RUN, BIO-INTENSIVE ORGANIC GARDEN; A HEALTHY HOT LUNCH (AS HUNGER AND MALNUTRITUION ARE COMMON ISSUES AMONGST OUR CHILDREN); SPORTS, CHORUS, PHOTOGRAPHY, VISUAL ART AND DANCE; GIRLS AND BOYS GROUPS RUN BY NICAPHOTO STAFF. ROBOTICS CLASSES CONTINUE IN CONNECTION WITH THE COMMUNITY BOTS, A NYC BASED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION INCLUDES BRINGING STEM PROGRAMMING TO UNDERPRIVILEGED GIRLS.
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE PROVIDED FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE BASED ON NEED AND ARE GIVEN TO MAKE EDUCATION ACCESSIBLE TO EVEN THE MOST DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE. IN 2021 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE GIVEN TO 9 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.
