RESEARCH AND OUTREACH - THE INSTITUTE CONTINUES TO FOSTER SCHOLARSHIP ON AND WITHIN AFGHANISTAN BY BOTH AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARS. THE INSTITUTE ADMINISTERS ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES FROM THE UNITED STATES. THE AFGANISTAN KABUL CENTER SERVED AS A RESOURCE FOR VISITING INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARS AND FACILITATES RESEARCH, WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND INITIATIVES THAT PROMOTE ADVANCED SCHOLARSHIP AND THE PRESERVATION OF CULTURE IN AFGHANISTAN. ACTIVITIES WERE INTERRUPTED IN 2021 DUE TO THE UNITED STATES' TROOP WITHDRAWAL. THE KABUL OFFICE IS OPERATING IN EXILE OUT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, TWIN CITIES, AND IS MAINTAINING SCHOLARSHIP ON AFGHANISTAN FROM WITHIN THE US AND THIRD COUNTRIES TO KEEP RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS AND STAFF SAFE.
