Grant RecipientAmount

FEED NORTHLAND KIDS

PURPOSE: Unrestricted donation from Mayor's Christmas Tree Program. One in 7 children in the Northland of Kansas City go home hungry everyday. In partnership with Harvesters - The Community Food Network, the organization provides these kids with backpacks full of food that keeps them going. It's food that keeps them growing strong. The goal is that no child in the Northland goes hungry.

$5,570

GLADSTONE POLICE OFFICER ASSOCIATION

PURPOSE: To support Shop with a Cop program. Shop with a Cop helps bridge relationships between children and the police. These children are specifically chosen because their families may have experienced prior law-enforcement activity with police -- creating a significant impact on the child. Witnessing the arrest of a loved one can cause many youngsters to harbor strong negative feelings towards law-enforcement. Shop with a Cop presents an opportunity to identify with those children and pair them together with a law-enforcement officer in a positive situation -- shopping for Christmas presents.

$7,929

THE NORTHLAND CHRISTMAS STORE

PURPOSE: To support the annual Northland Christmas Store which provides food for Christmas dinner, personal care items, and toys to needy Clay County families and individuals at no cost. Eligible families are invited to shop at the Christmas Store during the four-day season, selecting gifts for their family members and a food box containing non-perishable items for Christmas dinner. Holiday care packages are also delivered to homebound individuals.
