LITERACY KC OFFERS A WELCOMING COMMNITY FOR ADULTS AND FAMILIES TO IMPROVE LITERACY SKILLS AND ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE. WITH SUPPORT FROM VOLUNTEERS, DONORS, PARTNERS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE, LITERACY KC INVESTS IN KANSAS CITY'S GREATEST ASSET - OUR PEOPLE. OUR COMPLEMENTARY, MUTUALLY REINFORCING SUITE OF PROGRAMS OFFERS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. BASED ON RESEARCH AND A FOCUS ON BEST PRACTIVE AND COMMUNITY LEARNING, LITERACY KC IS REVOLUTIONIZING THE WAY ADULT EDUCATION IS DELIVERED THROUGH OUR TICKET TO READ PROGRAM. EACH CLASS IS LED BY A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR AND SUPPORTED BY A TEAM OF TRAINED VOLUNTEER TUTORS. CURRICUUM IS RELEVANT, RESPONSIVE, LEVEL-APPROPRIATE, AND DIFFERENTIATED FOR EACH STUDENT THROUGH THE HELP OF THE TUTORS. EACH STUDENT IDENTIFIES ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL GOALS AND INSTRUCTORS DESIGN LESSONS TO HELP THEM MEET THESE GOALS. LET'S READ, OUR FAMILY READING PROGRAM, IS A MULTI-GENERATIONAL APPROACH TO BUILDING A TRADITION OF READING IN THE HOME. THROUGH A NATIONALLY UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP WITH KANSAS CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND MID-CONTINENT PUBLIC LIBRARY, CAREER ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL ALLOWS STUDENTS TO EARNS AN ACCREDITED HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA WITH AN ATTACHED CAREER CERTIFICATE THROUGH A CONVENIENT ANYTIME, ANYWHERE ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM. AND BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IN THE MULTIFACETED NATURE OF LITERACY, ALL TICKET TO READ PROGRAM STUDENTS COMPLETE A DIGITAL LIFE SKILLS CLASS WHERE STUDENTS REVIEW THE BASICS OF COMPUTERS, LEARN NEW SKILLS, AND BECOME FAMILIAR AND COMFORTABLE WITH USING OUR ON-SITE COMMUNITY COMPUTER LAB.
