THIS CORPORATION IS ORGANIZED AND SHALL BE OPERATED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE FOLLOWING CHARITABLE AND EDUCATION PURPOSES: - TO PROMOTE AND SERVE MINNESOTANS IN THEIR QUEST FOR CLEAN, HEALTHY AIR, FREE OF COMMERCIAL TOBACCO SMOKE; - TO OFFER SUPPORT TO NONSMOKERS AND NONSMOKERS' RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS IN OTHER STATES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES; - TO PREVENT YOUNG PEOPLE FROM STARTING TO USE COMMERCIAL TOBACCO; - AND MORE GENERALLY, TO COMBAT THE HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS RESULTING FROM COMMERCIAL TOBACCO USE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

POINT OF SALE PROJECT (POS) WORKS TO REDUCE THE HARM DONE BY TOBACCO USE IN THE METRO AREA. THROUGH EDUCATION, MEDIA, AND POLICY ADVOCACY, WE ARE WORKING TO REDUCE YOUTH ACCESS TO TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND TOBACCO INDUSTRY INFLUENCES. POS FOCUSES ON ENFORCING AND STRENGTHENING LOCAL TOBACCO ORDINANCES IN THE POINT-OF-SALE ENVIRONMENT. SPECIFIC FOCUS IS TO EDUCATE AND ADVOCATE ABOUT RESTRICTING THE SALE OF FLAVORED TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND KEEPING TOBACCO PRICES HIGH.


ALL OTHER PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO COMBAT THE HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS RESULTING FROM TOBACCO SMOKING.


THE MINNESOTA PREVENTION RESOURCE CENTER (MPRC) PROJECT WORKS TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, AND OTHER DRUG ABUSE BY CONNECTING PREVENTION PROFESSIONALS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO QUALITY INFORMATION AND TRAINING THEY NEED TO EFFECTIVELY PREVENT USE.


TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING: ANSR STAFF PROVIDES TRAINING AND GUIDANCE ABOUT TOBACCO CONTROL AND PUBLIC POLICY TO GRANTEES OF THE MN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF MINNESOTA. TRAINING IS THROUGH ONE-ON-ONE, GROUP AND ELECTRONIC MEETINGS.
