THE MISSION OF WOMEN'S SHELTER, INC. IS TO ASSIST VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WOMEN, INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES, BY ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING A FACILITY WHICH WILL PROVIDE TEMPORARY SHELTER AND SERVICES TO THESE VICTIMS.

SHELTER PROGRAM: OUR EMERGENCY SHELTER HOUSES VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO NEED EMERGENCY TEMPORARY SHELTER. OUR AVERAGE LENGTH OF STAY IS 28 DAYS. WE ALSO ANNUALLY ASSIST A FEW THOUSAND CLIENTS WITH CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES, PERSONAL AND LEGAL ADVOCACY, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, INFORMATION AND REFERRALS, TRANSPORTATION, ASSISTANCE OBTAINING SHELTER ELSEWHERE, SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY AFTER LEAVING OUR SHELTER PROGRAM, CIVIL AND CRIMINAL ADVOCACY, AND ASSISTANCE OBTAINING PROTECTION ORDERS.
WOMEN'S PROGRAM: WE ASSIST WOMEN WITH EMPLOYMENT AND TEMPORARY HOUSING TO REESTABLISH THEIR LIVES AFTER PRISON. OUR PROGRAMS COVER 10 COUNTIES IN SE MINNESOTA. REFERRALS, SUPPORT GROUPS, PERSONAL AND LEGAL ADVOCACY, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, CRISIS ADVOCACY, CIVIL AND CRIMINAL COURT ADVOCACY, AND GENERAL SUPPORT AS VICTIMS REBUILD THEIR LIVES.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAM: WE WORK WITH CHILDREN WHO ARE STAYING AT THE SHELTER, IN OUR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND THOSE OF FORMER RESIDENTS TO PROVIDE SERVICES SUCH AS SAFE INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP ACTIVITIES, PERSONAL AND LEGAL ADVOCACY, SUPPORT GROUP, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND SUPPORT AFTER LEAVING OUR SHELTER PROGRAM.
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM: WE HELP SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FOR UP TO TWO YEARS WHO NEED HOUSING AND SERVICES WITHIN OUR HOUSING PROGRAM. THE SERVICES INCLUDE BASIC FOOD, HOUSING, ACCESS TO DONATED ITEMS, GROUP, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, TRANSPORTATION, CASE MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL COUNSELING, COMMUNITY REFERRALS, JOB/EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES, AND SUPPORT AS VICTIMS REBUILD THEIR LIVES.PERMANENT HOUSING PROGRAM: WE HOUSE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN PERMANENT MARKET RATE HOUSING WHO FALL IN LINE WITH THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION.
