HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF ROCK AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES, INC. IS A LOCALLY-OPERATED AFFILIATE OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL. WE ARE A NONPROFIT, ECUMENICAL CHRISTIAN HOUSING ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PEOPLE IN NEED FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TO BUILD, RENOVATE, AND REPAIR HOMES IN ROCK AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES IN WISCONSIN SO THEY ARE SAFE, DECENT, AND AFFORDABLE.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF ROCK AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES (HFHRJC) WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GOD AND PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TO DEVELOP COMMUNITIES AND NEIGHBORHOODS WITH PEOPLE IN NEED BY BUILDING AND RENOVATING HOUSES SO THAT THERE ARE DECENT HOUSES IN DECENT COMMUNITIES IN WHICH EVERY PERSON CAN EXPERIENCE GOD'S LOVE AND CAN LIVE AND GROW INTO ALL THAT GOD INTENDS. WE ARE NOT A "HAND-OUT" PROGRAM BUT RATHER A "HANDS-UP" PROGRAM WHERE WE HELP FAMILIES HELP THEMSELVES. SINCE 1990 HFHRJC HAS BUILT 59 HOUSES IN TWO COUNTIES. IN THE PAST YEAR, OVER 400 VOLUNTEERS HAVE CONTRIBUTED OVER 7,100 HOURS BUILDING ONE HOUSE, STAFFING FUNDRAISING EVENTS, HELPING IN OUR RECYCLE/REUSE STORES, AND OVERSEEING AND GUIDING THE ORGANIZATION.
THE STORES ACCEPT DONATIONS OF NEW AND SALE-ABLE USED BUILDING MATERIALS SUCH AS CABINETS, FLOORING, DOORS, WINDOWS, LUMBER, AS WELL AS LIGHTING AND PLUMBING FIXTURES. HFHRJC HAS RECYCLED OVER A TON OF MATERIALS PER STORE EACH MONTH THAT WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A LANDFILL. SOME MATERIALS ARE USED TO BUILD AND REPAIR HOMES IN ROCK & JEFFERSON COUNTIES. THE REMINDER IS SOLD TO THE PUBLIC AT 50 - 75% OFF THE RETAIL PRICE AND THOSE FUNDS ARE USED TO BUILD AND REPAIR THE HOMES OF LOW- TO -MIDDLE INCOME FAMILIES.
