Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
SEPTEMBER 2022 THROUGH AUGUST 2023 AT THE GARRY MARSHALL THEATRE WAS A VIBRANT TIME FOR THE NONPROFIT. SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER WELCOMED A TYA PRODUCTION OF "CINDY & THE DISCO BALL." THE ORIGINAL MUSICAL WAS EXTENDED DUE TO IT'S POPULARITY. NOVEMBER STARTED WITH A BENEFIT EVENT WITH TIG NOTARO, RORY O'MALLEY AND ATSUKO OKATSUKA HOSTED BY PHILL LEWIS. THE SOLD OUT EVENT BROUGHT GREAT AWARENESS TO THE NONPROFIT AND TAPPED INTO THE COMEDY ROOTS OF OUR FOUNDER GARRY MARSHALL. DECEMBER WAS BURSTING WITH ART AND COMMUNITY WITH THE STUNNING CELTIC CONCERT "IRISH CHRISTMAS IN AMERICA: THE SHOW AND THE MASTERFUL IMPROVISATION SKILLS OF OUR PARTNER IMPRO THEATRE IN "JANE AUSTEN UNSCRIPTED: A REGENCY CHRISTMAS." FOR IT'S MULTI-WEEK RUN, AUDIENCE MEMBERS WERE INVITED TO CREATE FRESH MISTLETOE ARRANGEMENTS WITH LOCAL FLORIST KIM WILLIAMS OF THE ENCHANTED FLORIST. DECEMBER CAME TO A CLOSE WITH THE MOST PERFORMANCES EVER OF "HOLIDAZE HARMONY: LIVE" WITH BROADWAY STARS TERRON BROOKS AND KAMILAH MARSHALL. ENTERING 2023 WE DEEPENED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH IMPRO THEATRE IN "JANE AUSTEN UNSCRIPTED: TEA AT PEMBERLEY." THE OUTDOOR COURTYARD WAS TRANSFORMED INTO A FULL STAGE EXPERIENCE SET IN THE REGENCY COUNTRYSIDE. GUESTS CAME DRESSED TO THE NINES AND ENJOYED IMPORV, LIVE STRINGS, AND A TEA PARTY CURATED WITH LOCAL ESTABLISHMENTS. THE AUDIENCE APPEAL WAS SO GREAT THAT ONCE AGAIN, ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES WERE ADDED. AT THE SAME TIME WE WERE IN FULL PRODUCTION MODE IN THE OUTDOOR COURTYARD, OUR YOUTH EDUCATION SERIES "BROADWAY BOUND!" WAS IN FULL EFFECT ON THE INDOOR STAGE AND IN THE GMT REHEARSAL STUDIO. NEARLY FORTY YOUNG PEOPLE AGES 8-17 ENROLLED TO LEARN FROM INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AND BROADWAY PERFORMERS. WE ALSO SAW THE RETURN OF WAYNE BRADY AND DAN O'CONNOR'S IMPROV CLASSES FOR ADULTS AND A SOLD OUT SHOW OF PROFESSIONAL IMPROV. THE SUMMER WAS MET WITH THE ONE WOMAN MUSICAL "LEGALLY BRUNETTE" STARRING NATALIE LANDER FOR AN EXPANDED RUN. BRINGING MANY NEW PATRONS TO THE VENUE, THIS EMPOWERING SOLO-SHOW WAS TRULY CONNECTED TO GARRY'S LEGACY AS NATALIE'S FATHER IS KNOWN TO THE WORLD AS 'SQUIGGY' OF THE MARSHALL-PRODUCED TV SERIES "LAVERNE & SHIRLEY." FOR THE FIRST TIME, GMT LAUNCHED A YOUTH ART SUMMER CAMP FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE IMMERSED IN ALL THINGS ACTING, MOMENT, COMMUNICATION AND ENGAGEMENT WITHOUT SCREENS. THE MUCH NEEDED IN-PERSON SOCIAL INTERACTION PROVED TO BE VITAL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAD BEEN RELEGATED TO SCREENS FOR YEARS DURING THE PANDEMIC. THIS FISCAL YEAR WAS VERY STRONG FOR GMT CULTIVATING COMMUNITY, OFFERING DIVERSITY IN PROGRAMMING, AND HIGHLIGHTING THE UNIQUE EXPERIENCES THAT GMT OFFERS TO THE GREATER LOS ANGELES AREA.
