Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
FISCAL 21 CONTINUED TO BE A YEAR FULL OF CHALLENGES AND PIVOTS DUE TO THE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE OF THE PANDEMIC. HOWEVER, THE PLAYHOUSE HAS NOT ONLY MANAGED TO SURVIVE, BUT TO THRIVE. WE CREATED A SEASON TAILORED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE UNDERLYING KNOWLEDGE THAT THE FLEXIBILITY TO PIVOT WAS NOW FUNDAMENTAL. THE SEASON WAS BROKEN DOWN INTO 3 ACTS, WITH 3 SHOWS IN EACH ACT. BREAKING INTO 3 ACTS, WITHOUT ANNOUNCING MORE THAN 3 SHOWS AT A TIME, ALLOWED US TO WAIT UNTIL WE KNEW IF WE COULD BE IN-PERSON OR DIGITAL ONLY FOR EACH ACT. WE NEGOTIATED TERMS WITH THE UNION AND IMPLEMENTED SIGNIFICANT COVID PROTOCOLS TO BECOME THE FIRST UNION THEATER ALLOWED TO REHEARSE AND FILM IN-PERSON. AT FIRST, IT MEANT WE WERE FILMING PERFORMANCES ONSTAGE. WE MASTERED THE 3-CAMERA SHOOT, JUST IN TIME TO RECEIVE PERMISSION TO PERFORM WITH AN AUDIENCE STARTING JUNE 2021. AUDIENCES SHOWED UP WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES, GRATEFUL TO BE CONNECTING IN PERSON AGAIN. AND STAFF CAME BACK TO WORK.
