HEALTH & WELLNESS FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS THE YMCA IS NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AS A LEADING COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION, PROVIDING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT BUILD A HEATHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY FOR ALL. OUR OFFERINGS MEET THE VITAL NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. WE ARE AN INCLUSIVE ORGANIZATION, EMBRACING DIVERSE FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES AND INCOME LEVELS. SCHOLARSHIPS SUPPORT THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS. WE OFFER A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS THAT ENCOURAGE WELLNESS AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, SHARED INTEREST AND FUN. EXAMPLES INCLUDE TENNIS LESSONS/LEAGUES, GROUP FITNESS CLASSES, SWIMMING LESSONS AND YOUTH SPORTS. THROUGH OUR EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTH INTERVENTION PROGRAMS, INCLUDING ENHANCEFITNESS, BLOOD PRESSURE SELF-MONITORING AND LIVESTRONG CANCER SURVIVORSHIP, WE SERVE HUNDREDS OF COMMUNITY PATRONS, FACED WITH A THREAT OF CHRONIC DISEASE. IN 2020, WE OFFERED VIRTUAL FITNESS TO 49,000 INDIVIDUALS, PROVIDING A HEALTHY OUTLET IN A TIME WHERE THERE WERE FEW OPTIONS. 91,600 POUNDS OF HEALTHY GROCERIES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO ENSURE EQUITABLE ACCESS DURING A TIME OF A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN FOOD INSECURITY RATES. OVER 500 WERE MADE TO VULNERABLE SENIORS IN AN EFFORT TO CONNECT, ENCOURAGE AND PROVIDE THEM WITH NECESSARY COMMUNITY SERVICES.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AS THE NATION'S LARGEST PROVIDER OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, WE HAVE BEEN RESPONDING TO THE NEEDS OF YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR OVER 60 YEARS. WE OFFER A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS TO FOSTER HEALTHY PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL GROWTH. MANY OF OUR YOUTH INITIATIVES ARE OFFERED AT NO COST TO THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING CHILDWATCH, YOUTH FITNESS CLASSES, TEEN LEADERS CLUB, COMMUNITY FAMILY EVENTS AND OUT OF SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMS. IN 2020, WE PROVIDED HIGH-QUALITY CHILD CARE PROGRAMS INCLUDING EMERGENCY CHILDCARE FOR ESSENTIAL WORKERS, ALL-DAY VIRTUAL LEARNING POD PROGRAMS, BEFORE AND AFTERSCHOOL CARE, DAY CAMPS AND ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING TO OVER 1,000 KIDS IN OUR COMMUNITY. AQUATICS PROGRAMS PROVIDED NEARLY 1,000 YOUTH THE SKILLS TO BE SAFE AROUND WATER THROUGH SWIM LESSONS, SWIM TEAM AND THE SAFETY AROUND WATER INITIATIVE. WE COMBATED THE FOOD INSECURITY EPIDEMIC IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH OUR MEAL DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM, SERVING NEARLY 213,000 HEALTHY MEALS TO 34,000 KIDS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY.

ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN, GROW AND THRIVE THROUGH SELF-DISCOVERY AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO HEALTHY AND POSITIVE BEHAVIORS AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. OUR PROGRAMS LIKE BEFORE AND AFTERSCHOOL CARE, DAY CAMP, ALL-DAY VIRTUAL LEARNING PODS AND CHILDWATCH OFFER A WIDE RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE, SOCIO-EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL GROWTH. WE OFFER DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ENSURE NO CHILD IS UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CARLETON AIRPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS, MONROE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND TRIUMPH ACADEMY, WE OFFER NO-COST OUT OF SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMMING, UTILIZING THE EVIDENCE-BASED CATCH CURRICULUM TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS THROUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND NUTRITION EDUCATION. ALL CHILDCARE PROGRAMS PRIORITIZE LEARNING LOSS PREVENTION, ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE, STEM AND LITERACY SKILLS AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING.
