YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN, DISCOVER AND GROW, NO MATTER THEIR ABILITY TO PAY, ETHNICITY, RELIGION OR GENDER. WE PROVIDED OVER $200,000 IN ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDREN IN PROGRAMS WHICH INCLUDE CHILD CARE, AFTER SCHOOL CARE, DAY CAMP, YOUTH SPORTS, SWIM LESSONS, GYMNASTICS CLASSES AND SWIM AND GYMNASTICS TEAMS. THE WOODSON YMCA CONTINUES TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY AS THE LARGEST CHILD CARE PROVIDER IN OUR AREA, ENABLING FAMILIES TO BE ABLE TO WORK WHILE THEIR CHILDREN ARE WELL CARED FOR.
HEALTHY LIVING: THE Y IS THE LEADER OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS. WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH, AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. AS FAMILY UNITS STRUGGLE FOR A VARIETY OF FINANCIAL, MEDICAL AND SOCIAL REASONS, OUR Y IS OFFERING THEM A PLACE TO CONTINUE TO GROW AS HEALTHIER INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES FROM A PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH PERSPECTIVE. WE MAKE OUR PROGRAMS AND FACILITY USAGE ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE TO ALL. IN THIS FISCAL YEAR WE PROVIDED OVER $400,000 IN MEMBERSHIP FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD MEMBERSHIPS.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: OUR YMCA BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY. WE LISTEN AND RESPOND TO OUR COMMUNITIES MOST CRITICAL NEEDS. OUR LANDING, WHICH IS A SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER, HELPS TO KEEP OUR AGING POPULATION ACTIVE IN MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT. WE HAVE PROGRAMS SUCH AS OUR LIVESTRONG CANCER SURVIVOR PROGRAM, COMMUNITY GARDEN, MULTIPLE DONATION DRIVES, AND OTHER SEASONAL PROGRAMMING THAT HELPS TO BUILD STRONG MEMBERS AND COMMUNITY AT THE SAME TIME. OUR BELIEF THAT NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE TURNED AWAY FROM OUR PROGRAMS AND MEMBERSHIP FOR THE INABILITY TO AFFORD FEES HELP TO FOSTER AN INCLUSIVE ATTITUDE AND MISSION. IN ADDITION, OUR GOVERNANCE AND PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTE MANY HOURS SERVING THE MISSION OF OUR Y AS THEY HELP US SERVE OUR COMMUNITY.
