MISSION: ELIMINATING RACISM AND EMPOWERING WOMEN. 1. YWCA CHANGED ITS BY-LAWS FROM A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION TO A DIRECTORSHIP USING GUIDELINES PROVIDED BY THE NATIONAL YWCA. 2. YWCA PROVIDE 24/7/365 DAYS A YEAR SERVICES TO SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE (67 BEDS). CURRENTLY, WE ARE THE ONLY SHELTER IN THE CITY OF DETROIT AND ONE OF THE OLDEST IN MICHIGAN.
