TO PROMOTE, THROUGH THE INDEPENDENT LIVING MOVEMENT, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

TO PROMOTE, THROUGH THE INDEPENDENT LIVING MOVEMENT, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES. EDUCATION TO PROMOTE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, EMPOWERMENT, AND CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES WITHIN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS. WE PROVIDE FUNDING, TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO A NETWORK OF INDEPENDENT LIVING ORGANIZATIONS. THE PERSONAL ASSISTANT TRAINING PROGRAM RECRUITS AND TRAINS PERSONS IN THE COMMUNITY WHO ARE INTERSTED IN ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS WITH AREAS OF DAILY LIVING. A HOME SERVICES PROGRAM (HSP) IS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE CURRICULUM FOR THE PERSONAL ASSISTANTS. A STATEWIDE PROTOCOL IS ESTABLISHED TO ADDRESS CONSISTENT PRACTICE REGARDING THE DISTRIBUTION OF PROVIDER REFERRAL LISTS TO HSP CUSTOMERS.


THE HOUSING AUTHORITY PROGRAM OF ILLINOIS CONSISTS OF TWO GRANTS FROM THE NATIONAL LOW INCOME HOUSING COALITION FOR WORKING ON THE GOALS OF THE OPPORTUNITY STARTS AT HOME. THIS SUBGRANT IS USED TO HELP IMPLEMENT THE OPPORTUNITY STARTS AT HOME WORK PLAN.
