THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER INDIANAPOLIS, INC. IS THE CENTRAL PHILANTHROPIC, PLANNING AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS ORGANIZATION OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
ANNUAL GRANT PROGRAM - JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER INDIANAPOLIS, INC. (JFGI) RAISES DONATIONS THROUGH AN ANNUAL CAMPAIGN AND ENDOWMENT CONTRIBUTIONS. THOSE FUNDS ARE GRANTED THROUGH AN ANNUAL PLANNING & ALLOCATIONS PROCESS TO U.S. BASED JEWISH AGENCIES THAT PROVIDE SERVICES AND PROGRAMS TO BOTH THE JEWISH & GENERAL COMMUNITY OF INDIANAPOLIS, IN, AS WELL AS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR JEWS IN NEED OVERSEAS. JFGI ALSO PROVIDES SHARED SERVICES SUPPORTING SECURITY, CAMPUS AND TECHNOLOGY NEEDS ON CAMPUS, THROUGH PROCEEDS RAISED IN THE ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
JEWISH FAMILY SERVICES (JFS) OFFERS A CONTINUUM OF MULTI-GENERATIONAL SERVICES THAT ENHANCE THE HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND DIGNITY OF FAMILIES AND OLDER ADULTS IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY. JFS IS THE SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER INDIANAPOLIS. JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE RUNS MANY SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS SUCH AS KAVOD (HELPS EXPAND OUTREACH TO HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS LIVING IN INDIANAPOLIS AREA). THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO REDUCE BARRIERS TO SERVICES, PROMOTE SOCIALIZATION AND PREVENT RE-TRAUMATIZATION), POPSIE'S PANTRY (FOOD AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED), COUNSELING AND CASE MANAGEMENT, ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES IN ECONOMIC CRISIS AND MORE.
JFGI'S CENTER FOR ENGAGEMENT AND LEARNING RUNS A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT JEWISH EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THE GREATER INDIANAPOLIS AREA AND CONNECTS PEOPLE TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY. WE PROVIDE DIRECT PROGRAMMING FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 8-12, WHICH INCLUDE TEEN ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS AND OTHER SHARED OPPORTUNITIES; WE ENAGAGE YOUNG ADULTS AND FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN; WE SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS IN THE JEWISH COMMUNITY; PROVIDE RESOURCES TO THE BROADER COMMUNITY THROUGH OUR JEWISH COMMUNITY LIBRARY, WHICH IS PART OF THE INDIANAPOLIS PUBLIC LIBRARY SHARED SYSTEM.
