THE FOUNDATION'S PRIMARY MISSION IS TO SERVE A CRITICAL ROLE TO PROACTIVELY INITIATE POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE AREAS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING; COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; AND ARTS AND CULTURE. THE FOUNDATION IS FOCUSED ON OPPORTUNITIES WHICH PROMOTE LONG TERM SUSTAINABILITY, SUPPORT INNOVATION AND LEVERAGE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION ALSO INCLUDES ESTABLISHING A GRANT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE QUALIFIED LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS IDENTIFIED BY SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES WITH MONTHLY RENT ASSISTANCE SUBSIDIES. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO ENCOURAGE LIFE CHANGE BY CONDITIONING THE PROVISION OF HOUSING ON THE MAINTENANCE OF STABLE EMPLOYMENT, A STABLE HOME ENVIRONMENT AND BY REQUIRING THE GRANT AWARDEES TO REFRAIN FROM USING DRUGS AND ABUSING ALCOHOL. FOSTER'S LANDING PROVIDED 90 APARTMENT UNITS WITH AN AVERAGE UNIT SIZE OF 964 SQUARE FEET FOR RENT TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES IN NEW CASTLE, INDIANA.
