IN 2009, OHWI BECAME THE HOME OF THE PORTLAND METRO AHEC, A PROGRAM TO IMPROVE THE EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN OREGON. OHWI COLLABORATES WITH THE STATE'S PROGRAM OFFICE AND FELLOW OREGON AHEC REGIONAL CENTERS BY PROVIDING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT DATA. OHWI ASSISTS OREGON'S AHECS BY HELPING WITH PROGRAM EVALUATION PLANS AND EVALUATING PROGRAM EFFORTS AND OUTCOMES.PARTNERSHIPS AND DATA REQUESTS:OHWI ESTABLISHES PARTNERSHIPS AND PROVIDES INFORMATION FOR PROPOSALS AND APPLICATIONS. OREGON'S HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEMS, WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARDS, HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY AND OTHERS HAVE BENEFITED FROM OHWI'S EFFORTS WHICH IN PART HAVE HELPED THE STATE SECURE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN FEDERAL AND PRIVATE GRANTS IN SUPPORT OF HEALTH CARE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.TASK FORCES AND ADVISORY COUNCILS:FROM PRESENTATIONS TO MEMBERSHIPS ON TASK FORCES AND ADVISORY COUNCILS, OHWI SUPPORTS EFFORTS ACROSS THE STATE THAT ADDRESS HEALTH CARE SHORTAGE ISSUES.
